" @Lies: Do you think there is an value in the books for some one who lets say their fondness for the games is limited? Or is this strictly fan service stuff? Because I wouldnt mind checking it out anyway if they are well written books. "

I read the Fall of Reach and it was just a well written sci-fi novel.  It was a lot more personal than the Halo games and dealt with some interesting things not covered in there (the training of the SPARTANS and the battle at Reach), so you certainly don't need to have played the game.  I recommend them if you like some war themed sci-fi, like say Starship Troopers.  Reminded me of that book some. "

Agreed, the books aren't epic literature by any means, they are just competent sci-fi pop reading.  As a Halo fan, however, I thoroughly enjoyed leaning about the different back stories, so they certainly have value if you find the Halo universe interesting.

Yeah, you're right man. We're assholes for seeking to be a part of a community. It was way better when we had no one else to talk to about games and were made to feel ostracised. Who are we to be taking consumer advice from a consumer focused website with personable and amusing staff? Back to buying games with no insight into their quality before hand for me, thank you very much.  Oh, and go fuck yourself. "

Thumbs up Riddle Brother.  Thumbs up.

Agreed with MattyFTM, I can see why Yukoei is pissed about his platform of choice being seemingly overlooked, but comparing exclusives is always mostly kept between consoles, because that's where the competition is.

I think it'd be great if Conviction came to the PS3, but only if you Playstation people give us some God of War in return ;).  And Resistance.  And Killzone.

Just curious, what was your DS GOTY?

" That would awesome if they are leaving. They really have killed gaming, and any creativity associated with it. Not to mention their legions of 12 year old fans. Good riddance to trash as I would say. "
What are you talking about?  Halo: CE was a pretty groundbreaking game, if it's "killed creativity" it's only because practically every FPS since has copied its formula. Making a few sequels to that isn't any worse than what every single other gaming company does out there, and at least they're stepping away now so they can work on other things.  I've met more annoying 12 year olds playing WoW and MW2 than I have on Halo.  It's trash like you that's ruining the gaming industry, not the games themselves. "

Look at every post Nemesis has ever posted on these boards.  Theres no point talking to him, he's a constant troll.

Bungie moving on just means (most likely) shittier Halo games and no Marty.  Not to sound like a A-hole, but do you have a 360?  If not, how can you be sick of something you haven't played?   "
I have a 360, yes. And all the Halo games excluding ODST because it was a rip-off at that price. "
Well like I said, Bungie leaving is a bad thing for Halo.  But hey, hopefully Bungie's next IP is even better.  "

Agreed, now we're looking at a future of possibly lower quality Halo games (hopefully not, worse for fans and haters alike).  The Marathon games and Oni were both sweet, so I believe Bungie can be more than one franchise.

" @arab_prince: You seem to be at a loss at how GB GOTY nominees are generated.  The entire office has to have had an experience with the game.  I would have had a problem with them not putting MW2 on it because they all played it and enjoyed it.  DS on the other hand, half of them didn't play it and of the other half, only one enjoyed it.    The giant issue people seem incapable of getting over is this isn't some definitive statement on the best game of the year (as if there is any in the entire gaming press), but the best the GB office can collectively get behind on. "

Exactly this.  What people misunderstand about GOTY awards is that they're not designed to be a definitive list, they are a showcase of what the editors favourite games are.  The reason the GOTY awards exist is because thousands of people come to this site daily, partly because they trust the editors alot.  Therefore the mentality from the editors is that many users would be interested in their personal GOTY.  It always boggles my mind when people get upset over these situations.
