@Example1013: Good point, the original intent of my post was kind of lost as I scrambled out of work. Capcom producing interesting new IPs puts them so far ahead of most Japanese game developers (besides Nintendo), that's the sad part.
@Example1013: I would argue that Capcom is one of the only big players in the Japanese development and publishing of games that has continually invested in games that break from the standard tradition of Japanese game design. Dark Void, Dead Rising, Monster Hunter, Asura's Wrath, Dragon's Dogma, and so on. Varying degrees of success in there but not really your traditional JRPG. At the time all the games were pretty unique. Compare that to NIS or Konami who seem content to release some pretty boring stuff.
I find it funny that the level of cynicism still exists towards Nintendo. They are very smart business men, they "get" it. That doesn't mean they didn't under estimate how popular online gaming would be. They totally dropped the ball on that. But this rampant notion that they will NEVER have an online system and so on is just laughable. Something will happen, it will probably be great, and everyone will dig it. Or they won't and it will sink them, but I don't see that happening at all. It's coming, the Nintendo Network, we are powerless to resist.
Ugh, some rough games today. Definitely not a game you can play while distracted, one failed jam at the line or not picking up a fumble can ruin everything.
