There's a bit of TCG thing going on in that each Team is like a Deck. You have 6 units or bonuses in your "Hand" during gameplay. The objective is to either destroy your opponent's crystals or all of their units. Games can be set up via random matchmaking, Steam friend list or Twitter account.

That's very true considering Hero Academy is heavily based on a card game called Summoner Wars, which is much like MTG played on a chess board. Check it out if you like Hero Academy, it's great (and recently got an iOS app of its own).

I think Want You Gone is the better song. Thing is, Still Alive started out great because it had that "Holy crap, glados is singing to me?" moment.
WYG on the other hand, kinda started in the red because it would have been terribly disappointing if there had been no song at all. It had to live up to expectations rather than shattering (nonexistant?) expectations.
If you're downloading it through battlenet, there is just one game client I'm pretty sure. You download it, then it is just your registering of keys for each expansion or purchasing them on battlenet if you haven't already that unlocks the content to your characters.
