The Leave's TV campaign kicks-off with a black screen, some sinister music, and a voice-over announcing that Turkey will soon join the EU. Before you know it, we'll have Turks travelling freely throughout Europe and WOOOOOO [waggles fingers ominously].
I've read several compelling economic arguments for Brexit. It has also been posited as a good thing for those with more lefty sensibilities.
But, no. The Brexiteers would rather you watch this film about a poor, elderly, white lady gasping her last in hospital waiting room full of what might be immigrants (we can't tell because the casting agency were careful to employ no more than one black guy) while ignoring that a third of the staff in that hospital are probably immigrants, etc.
I have never felt so poorly informed while being asked to decide something so important. The Remain lot will burble about the economy, as if they had any control over that, and tell us that we can't make it alone - despite knowing inherently that we that we could because we're fuckin' Britain.
I am equally disappointed at how both sides have presented their arguments, but I cannot side with the xenophobes.
And xenophobes they are - that has been their reasoning, front and center and without shame, from the very start.
