Games My Non-Gaming Girlfriend Has Beaten...

My girlfriend reads Twilight , watches American Idol, and shops. She doesn't play video games. So, in an attempt to encourage and glorify her gaming efforts, I'm keeping a list of any and all games she's finished.

List items

  • It took her a month, and she had the benefit of infinite ammo with the Tommy Gun, but I'm still counting it. She's currently working through RE5 with me.

  • I bought a PSP just to play this game. After I beat it, I gave her the PSP and the game. She played this over a couple of months. As with RE4, she had the benefit of a beefed up character, but she still handled the puzzles and platforming on her own. Also, she's currently playing through it a second time.

  • Although I don't think you can really "beat" Left 4 Dead. She has survived all five scenarios, so I'm counting this as well. It took about a month to finish all five scenarios, but in all fairness, she had to wait for me to stop playing Fallout 3.

This is a great idea for a list. Major props to your girlfriend for beating these games. Even I found it difficult to wrap my head around RE4's control scheme when I first played it, so her making it through that game is no mean feat.

I too have a non-gaming girlfriend who's recently started to take an interest in my hobby. She bought herself a DS last Easter, and has a lot of fun playing Viva Pinata: Pocket Paradise and Animal Crossing. She's also attempted to get into some more demanding games, like the first Ratchet & Clank, but I think she isn't too keen on the idea of dealing with a threat in the games that she plays - she'd much rather just chill out and work towards her own goals in her own time, in games with no specified paths to take. It's this that has prompted me to dust off the GameCube and introduce her to Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, a game that I imagine would definitely be to her liking. She's also pretty keen on spectating, and has sat through Dead Space, Resident Evil 5, and Silent Hill 2 with me, just to name a few.

Once again, great list. Best of luck to your girlfriend in adding to it in the future :)
