I picked it up yesterday.  It's a fair bit of fun that you're missing out on! :)

The same thing happened to me on a different page when posting an article.  I shut down the browser and made sure not to have any other tabs open when I re-submitted it and it worked fine afterwards.

I was disappointed with the way Microsoft dropped support for the Xbox so soon after the 360's launch in general.  Backward compatibility matters enough for me to care about on all systems, both for playing old classics that I've already run through and for giving games a chance that I've not previously played.  I bought a few Original Xbox titles without ever own the console knowing I could play them on the 360 (Knights of the Old Republic anyone?).  Given that a lot of people sold their original consoles under the promise that Microsoft would continue to add titles to it's BC list, it's disappointing for sure.

i'm not sure that you can take the people running the site out of the equation to begin with.  The whole concept of Giant Bomb as a free-for-all, anything goes (within reason) gaming site comes directly from Jeff's dismissal from his previous employer and the general restrictions and censorships that the enthusiast press typically suffers from.  Hence, why Brad, Ryan and Vinny followed along and others have also left to pursue other interests.  In concept at least, Giant Bomb elevates itself above that censorship and offers something different than what's already out there, both with user generated content and that of the editors.  So from that standpoint, yes, Giant Bomb is awesome, with or without the four of them at the helm.

However, given that it's only four guys on the team at this point it's unrealistic to expect content to rival other gaming news sites, but I think that's kind of the point here, isn't it?  I never got the impression that Giant Bomb was supposed to be a news site.  I felt that it's primary purpose was to be an open and honest community that puts games first.  Not review scores or system wars or designated triple A titles.  Just games, and gamers and enjoying the hobby we all share.

So in a sense, the original poster is right.  Without Jeff, Ryan, Brad and Vinny, this site isn't as awesome.  It would still be amazing and could easily stand on it's own, but with those four churning out weekly podcasts and the occassional blogs and reviews, they kind of bring everything together to provide somewhat of an outline of what Giant Bomb stands for and I've found it refreshing, ever since the first Arrow Pointing Down podcast that I listened to.  They do make Giant Bomb that much better.

That pretty much sums it up, doesn't it?  I value a good and honest opinion.  I don't necessarily have to agree with everything Jeff, Ryan, Brad and Vinny have to say, but I like that I can believe that their opinions aren't pure bullshit and that they acknowledge their biases up front.  I know that Jeff isn't in to Star Wars. Brad let it be known before his review of Lego Indy that it was a game he wanted to like and we all know that none of the four are really into sports games.

Admitting those sort of things gives the site a fresh feeling.  Never mind all the community based things going on here!  Plus, the Giant Bombcasts are hilarious!!  The whole site has an uncensored kind of feeling to it.  A feeling that it caters to gamers and games first.

When the novelty of Giantbomb being a new site wears off, I have a feeling that those are the things that are going to keep me around, but they're also the things that brought me here.

The one thing that has me optimistic actually came from Brad, where he mentioned that this game actually feels like the star wars of old.  You know, the dirty used up Star Wars universe.  I've kind of got a wait and see attitude as far as expectations go but I've got a feeling that I'll be picking it up on day 1 to find out if this one lives up to the impossible hype.  It's hard not to get excited about a game that let's you go in a destroy everything.  Star Wars or otherwise.

I bought this one the day it launched so trophy support isn't a motivation here.  I'll play it through once they add the patch for sure though!  It's probably my favourite PS3 game to date.

I remember standing around in the arcade as a poor kid being more than content to crowd around the machine and just watch other kids play.  Street Fighter II had the same effect.  Every once in a while I could convince my folks to spare a few quarters and actually get to play.  The first time I pulled off Sub-Zero's fatality, I thought I was the pimp!

My first was the PC original, where soldiers and cities were just represented by little squares with a picture on them.  It was ridiculously addictive, even back then!
