My condecending list of games that you should be ashamed about not ever playing

Because every cynical gamer needs a list like this am I right?

List items

  • The true grand father of stealth games that did the whole hiding in shadows thing way before Splinter Cell, ironically, stole the credit for it. If only the series wasn't ruined by Warren "One Hit Wonder*" Spector's hand with Thief 3 Deadly Shadows.

    *See entry 6

  • *Pretentious Snob circuits ON*

A genuine example of how games can be art and truly be an experience that sticks with you for a long time even after you have turned off your system

    *Pretentious Snob circuits OFF*

  • See above

  • It was released on every platform imaginable at the time, was demonstrated at an IMAX theater, was praised for it's varied gameplay, well told story and great characters, and it still sold poorly. You should be ashamed of yourselves, gaming community.

  • A fine example of blending FPS and RPG elements in a seamless manner. It saddens me that so few people know of the awesomeness that is SHODAN. Too bad Bioshock, for all it's greatness, is actually much more shallow than System Shock 2 (ironic when you think about it, considering Rapture's location), as if to make it accessible to all the Halo fanboys.

  • Another fine early example of FPS/RPG written by a paranoid conspiracy theorist. Also Warren Spector's only genuinely great game.

  • Yes it had it's flaws but you know what, I liked it more than 7. You heard me. Why? Because it felt more like a genuine fantasy than 7 and 8 did, and yes I know fantasy doesn't mean medieval weapons and stuff. Plus it's main character wasn't a whiny angsty little bitch.

  • I think I just liked how I could replay certain events as many times as I pleased that I actually enjoyed doing, plus it actually had the Legend of Zelda theme in it so that's at least one thing it has over Ocarina of Time.

  • Celes's opera moves me far more than Aeris' death scene. Kefka actually succeeds in taking over the world. Some of the best music in the series, including Dancing Mad which is the best in the series. Plus you could have a moogle in your team.

  • Because there are still few moments in the series that are more intense than the Stalingrad mission the first time you play it.

  • Before the series completely lost it's shit with the Scrin.
