1. Mass Effect 2
Best of the year, and one of the best of all time. It delivered great, personal stories intertwined with some cool gunplay.

2. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood
This is like crack. I cannot stop playing it, be it the single player or the really kind of incredible multiplayer. Better (?) than Assassins's Creed 2, which is high praise in my book.

3. Amnesia: The Dark Descent
Ooooo this game is scary. Incredible atmosphere, great puzzles, and one of the most addicting stories in gaming. And it has commentary! Yay!

4. Sid Meier's Civilization V
This improved on Civ IV in the most important way: the combat. What had been a broken system finally became more than just a chore and actually fun. The rest of the game was addictive as ever.

5. Super Street Fighter IV
Like Street Fighter IV, but better.
