Hey Giant Bomb,

It looks like you use the Location header to redirect an API request to the correct url, but doing so mangles the GET parameters. I noticed in my testing that I was receiving XML when I requested JSON and investigated.

To explain, here are two curl commands I just ran and the Location headers I receive back:

$ curl -L -i "http://giantbomb.com/api/video_types/?api_key=123&format=json"

Location: http://www.giantbomb.com/api/video_types/?api_key=123&format=json?api_key=123&format=json

That's weird, but still does what I wanted.

$ curl -L -i "http://giantbomb.com/api/video_types?api_key=123&format=json"

Location: http://www.giantbomb.com/api/video_types?api_key=123&format=json?api_key=123&format=json

Location: http://www.giantbomb.com/api/video_types/?api_key=123&format=json&format=json%3Fapi_key%3D123

The response is suddenly in XML as the 2nd redirection puts bad data in the final GET variable.

You didn't miss much. While you're on the beach getting taunted by the guy that betrayed you, the guy says something to the effect of "fuck you, I gotta get paid" and turns you over to the British. Then you're in jail. There is a bit of cutscene before you go on trial, they don't show your trail, but some stuff with Kidd worth re-playing if you missed it.

@Humanity You can't be outraged at the expected now? Sure its the status quo, and he knew the risk going in, that doesn't make it cool.

For the past few years I've had the impression that post TechTV merger (and maybe before, I don't really know) G4 had a lot of really talented folks, making the best of a situation without the editorial control that would allow them to make the best TV they could. Adam Sessler and Patrick Klepek talking on G4's "Feedback" videocast showed me what I wanted from gaming news, but G4 never put that on TV; Hardwick's "Nerdist" podcast made me see him as so much more than a low rent Joel McHale. I even once saw Kevin Pereira hosting a zero-production-value video stream from his apartment, he was just sitting around cracking jokes about his broken air conditioner and it was funnier than anything I had ever seen on AOTS.

So good riddance to G4; The guys who got the boot at the merger went on to find success in online media, I hope the people leaving this round find something that works for them too.
