I'm glad this game is alive, after never really hearing much about it except for that video floating around this is damn fine news. Really glad Relic is on board with this game too, the trailer has me sold.
I just read about this over at Destructoid. I was curious what was going on with Lords of Shadow too, I know for a while there was speculation that it was just a project name for the next Castlevania but that pretty much got dismissed with the Castlevania teaser they showed at the last TGS. I definitely don't see the connection between the teaser site and this news though.
Either way I'm glad to see that Lords of Shadow is still alive and that Kojima will be involved with it's development, as for what else he has up his sleeve..I dunno but I'm really anxious to see what it is.
I think the series just needs one proper release that isn't on a handheld to really get back on track. I really hope that this "next-gen" game they have in the works will be the one, IGA seems to have a lot of trouble making the transition from 2D to 3D, plus from interviews it seems that Castlevania has a bigger following in the states than in Japan. I kinda get the impression he really wants to work on something else but is stuck working on Castlevania games hah.
With games like Devil May Cry, God of War, hell even Odin Sphere you can see that the genre can improve and evolve. Now if IGA can just catch up and make the leap to the big two (360 & PS3) and produce a top notch modern Castlevania then it's win-win all around.
