I have never tried out blogging. I guess I don't have all that much to say and am certain that my life/views are not all that interesting. Anyway, I figured "what the hell", I'll give it a try and see if anyone gives a s*it. When I was trying to come up with something to talk about I started reflecting on my previous evenings multiplayer exploits and game fatigue.
I have a core group of friends from work that I actively play multiplayer games with. We are a small bunch (only four people). For a time we dabbled with a number of different 360 shooters (Halo 3, ODST firefight, Gears 2, and Modern Warfare 1&2). For the last six months or so all they really want to play is Modern Warfare 2. While I find this to be a great game I am getting burned out. Unfortunately I can't seem to convince the group to give any other multiplayer shooters a chance. They have become completely fixated on Call of Duty and just plan to move over to Black Ops in November.
Some might say "find a different group to game with" but unfortunately I don't have the easiest time meeting new people online with similar sensibilities (go figure, a gamer with some social anxiety). I really like this core group and I hope that we can change up in the not to distant future (I have a small amount of hope that they will give Halo Reach a try and more hope for Gears 3).
In the end I wonder how common this problem is among gamers. You like your gaming group but are not particularly fond of or tired of their game of choice. For me, I think in the end I would rather maintain my friendships/gaming relationships with this group then walk away from them for a new game.
