The Horror... The Horror...

The games that have the best chance of making me shit myself.

List items

  • This is the one that started it all for me. This was the game that made me realise games could scare the living crap out of you. Every single time that fucking motion detector when off, I wanted to cry.

Pants filling moment: The first time a facehugger said hello to my face.

  • Not only does this game tell one of the best stories for the medium, the brilliant sanity effects added another level of unsetteling creepiness to an already creepy game.

Pants filling moment: Bathtub. BATHTUB. OH GOD THE MOTHERFUCKING BATHTUB.

  • The game as a whole isn't what I'd consider scary, but the requisite horror levels were without a doubt freaky as hell.

Pants filling moment: Entering the Oceanside Hotel and fast coming to realize the game had suddenly taken a turn for the awesome.

  • Who knew getting the shit beaten out of you by crazy hobos could be so goddamn unnerving!

Pants filling moment: Taking a photograph of the 'corpse' stuffed in the locker. I'll never forvige Monolith for that...

  • So it hasn't exactly passed the test of time, but I still vividly remember my 12 year old self being too frightened to continue playing the game.

Pants filling moment: That fucking dog and it's goddamn window.

  • Japanese women with long black hair. It may sound like a dream date for some, but it's anything but in this game.

Pants filling moment: The first time you see that ghost crawl out of the box.

  • This one probably tops them all. This game contains some of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in a videogame. The sense of dread that pervades just about every moment of the game is masterfully crafted.

Pants filling moment: The Attack of the Fishmen. Where the simple act of bolting a door shut will seem like the most crucial decision you've ever made.
