I rarely play games on harder difficulties. I usually go for normal on genres I play most often, and I'll bump things down to easy if I'm dying a lot. I'm not a big fan of playing on easy all the time, however, because if there's no challenge at all, it can get a little boring.
For the most part, I play games to relax and enjoy the story, not to get mad and throw controllers.
So, I had a long time away from games. Never really got in to the Zelda series when I was a kid, and this game seems to have been the most universally liked since I started playing again so this seems like a good one to start with from a quality standpoint. I'm interested and would like to check it out, but since it's a direct sequel, I'm a little concerned about whether or not it'll all make sense without having played Link to the Past. Do I need to have played the first to enjoy/make sense of the sequel?
I cancelled my PS4 preorder. I'm still going to get one, but I want to wait until there are actually games out that I'm interested in playing -- I wouldn't buy any of the launch titles for either system. The temptation of the zeitgeist wore off, and it would've been a stretch financially for me to buy one right now. May ask for one for my birthday or xmas next year if my financial situation doesn't improve -- otherwise I'll pick one up for myself when some games come out for that I actually want to play.
My close friends and family aren't the least bit interested in video games. I'm the only one. Not even really Facebook games or anything like that. My closest girlfriend got Bejeweled on her phone awhile back and was like "omg, this is the coolest thing ever" and was pretty shocked when I told her I'd first played it over 10 years ago.
So, yeah, no idea new consoles are coming. Someone might see a news story around the launch and ask me something about it, but I'm not counting on it.
