The enemy placement is so well thought out and the level design so good that no, DkS doesn't play like an MMo at all.

I also don't understand why someone would think that those techniques are derived from mmos

No fate/zero recommendations? I'll be that guy, watch Fate/Zero. Don't judge that show by the first episode, it starts slow but gets amazing(and the art/soundtrack are top-notch).

I also enjoyed Stein's Gate, while it starts slow the characters are instantly likeable and it gets really interesting if you like time related shenanigans.

If it's Demon's Souls I'm getting a premium sub :|

Patrick seems to be learning the ropes of combat really fast, I also like how he (usually) has a good sense of orientation.

It's not Jeff Green level of expertise but it will do :)

I was trying the duke skip and almost pulled it off; the only problem was that I landed on the outside ledge of the balcony at which point I tried to go around and reach the rotating stair, only to fall to my death(tried to quit as fast as possible but failed :( ).

Didn't have any rings of sacrifice(already used all the ones for the playthrough) and couldn't pull off the jump the second time, but I saw my bloodstain on the stupid ledge while falling to my death :|

In the end I was already at a good soul level, I bought every consumable item and material that I needed beforehand so it wasn't that big of a deal(Souls lose a looot of value when you start doing pvp).
