@delitist: I agree with some of the shortcomings of FFXV (side quests are often just simple go kill this or go get that), but I always enjoyed the banter among Noctis and his friends. I disagree about the DLC, however. While I think it's nice that it is there for folks who want it, I like how they really went all-in having the game be completely from Noctis's point of view. If Noctis wasn't there, then you didn't know about it. I was fine with Gladiolus and Prompto's excursions being a mystery or up to my imagination. What really mattered was how their separation affected the characters.
This game just looks terrible. As a long time NFS fan I'm genuinely sad about how this franchise is on the verge of rotting into obscurity. This is one of a small number of franchises where literally they can get away with doing the same game over and over again. Just make the Criterion Hot Pursuit title with new vehicles, tracks, and better graphics. BOOM. Multi million unit seller. The problem is that for the last like 5 NFS titles they've tried to reinvent the wheel every time and it never works and, frankly, isn't necessary. Give me old NFS with state of the art graphics and you have my money. This cash grabby loot box bullshit just doesn't work in a game like this. Makes me wonder how difficult it is to get Porsche Unleashed running on Windows 10...
Porsche Unleashed for PC is kind of a hidden gem of Need for Speed. It's not for everyone, but I enjoyed learning about Porsche and racing lots of different point to point races. Those interested, beware, the PS1 version is a different game by a different dev, and is not worth it.
I did the music to the Alias game, so this was fun to see (and hear, because I don't really remember any of the music I did). I think they played longer than I did back when it came out. Pretty sure the demo is the opening of the actual game.
The Tomb Raider reboot story sounds good when you just type out the pitch, but the execution was of a D-grade made-for-cable movie. I thought the gameplay was excellent and I had a lot of fun, though. Was one of my favorites of that year, despite the story.
@bisonhero: I actually think that the Tomb Raider reboot had a very coherent and strong, straightforward story. A young woman crash lands on a mysterious island and through a gamey coming of age story makes her way off that island, in the process becoming the explorer she originally set out to become. It was a very clear A-to-B narrative and one of the reasons I actually prefer it to Rise of the Tomb Raider which despite it's title felt a lot more wishy washy and a little aimless with adventure injected sporadically for the sake of gameplay.
