Up until this week I didn't even give it a second though.  I laughed at the notion of doing so.  No way was I going to do it. As this week started, the thought came back.  I just brushed it back to the nether regions of my mind.  As the days came and went, it slowly gained steam but I denied its existence.  But, I couldn't keep holding it back.  And today, I finally caved in.
 
I pre-ordered the Modern Warfare 2Prestige Edition for Xbox 360.
 
I promised myself I wouldn't do it again, not after shelling out for the Halo 3Legendary Edition two years ago.  Don't get me wrong, the Master Chief helmet is awesome, but $150 for one game?  I could get 2 1/2 games for that(you can get 1/2 of a game if you unlock the true deep powers of String Theory as I have).  I promised myself to put back half of my checks to savings, so I am already penny pinching when it comes to buying video games and there are so many that I want to get(like, for instance, Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves releasing this Tuesday).  
 
Why would I do this?  Why would I sacrifice the possibility of  getting another game just to satisfy the consumer whore in me that wants the biggest and grandest version of an item?  Why would I torture myself like that?
 
The answers to these questions may never come to pass.  One thing I do know, though, is that I am going to be as giddy as a school girl when I put on those night vision goggles and then later see them on the Soap MacTavish bust next to my Master Chief helmet.

Good choice, now you can join the NVG Crew aka the Cool Kids Club, like me.

Now you can run in the streets at night wearing nothing but the night vision goggles!

A lot of money to spend on something that will be collecting dust 5 minutes after the novelty wears off.

i can't blame you. if i had the money, i'd pre order the prestige edition (i think that's the one with the NVG). i don't know why, the NVGs must be crap...but I must have them!!

I'm still moving between Prestige and Hardened. It depends on if a couple games that are coming out soon are any good.

I came into this thread hoping it wouldn't be getting the Prestige Edition. Now I am disappoint.

To my own fortune, the prestige edition of MW2 is sold out on Amazon, so that temptation is removed. However, the Hardened edition is still in stock, and I could really use another steel case to compliment that of RE5...

That's just crazy. I'm not even buying the regular edition.

i think you can only see 10-15 feet with the goggles, but would be cool to have if i had a lot of money to dish out

Wow what a waste of money IMO. Some people never learn, but those special editions of games are for fan boys of big name games who are going to invest as much money as they can in their beloved franchise, and they will get the game and some silly gimmick toy which will be fun for all of 30 seconds in return. Well done sir!
