Hopefully this means great sites like Kotaku and io9 (what, I like them) won't be affiliated with the burning trashbag that Gawker seems to be. Also that their interface might change? Because jesus, as much as I enjoy Kotaku, their site design looks like something that is just done with HTML code.

The response to the video only shows how important this issue is. I've found every one of Olivers shows incredibly frightening, funny and informative and this is yet another succesful episode, framing the problem, pointing out why it exists, and why it will continue to exist if we continue in ignorance and state a few examples of things that are in the works of trying to fix the issue at hand.

I feel like area42s comment perfectly incapsulates the magnitued of this problem. Apparently you can't talk about women getting deaththreads or having to deal with pornographic images of them on their computer without being 'sensationalizing the issue.' Ignoring this problem only makes it apparent how gigantic it is. Because if it weren't we would probably talk about it like adults, instead of ignoring it like children.

Real talk! I generally like Jim Sterlings more honest interviews with smaller devs, but even that doesn't come close to Gerstman giving those guys it straight. They also seemed to take it pretty cool, it's always good to see developers who are aware that their game have issues (something their fanbase could learn from) and have plans to fix them. Their DLC rollout is still abhorrent, but I guess that model is up to Activision to decide.

As a guy whose main console is the Wii U I'm almost always sure that a new game will feel complete, and least if its first party. And because of Nintendos price policies waiting for price drops rarely pays off. I bought DKC: Tropical Freeze a few days back, a game that is more than a year old, and I payed full price. And I'm totally fine with that, 'cause the game is brilliant and feels like it's worth the asking price.

Not to be overly cynical, but I couldn't help but think of Horizon as the new Watch Dogs. Will be interesting to see some actual gameplay hopefully next E3.

About backwards compatability and your claim that, "Comparatively, Nintendo straight up charges their users per title for similar functionality"

Yeah, so that just isn't true. The Wii U have had backwards compatability from Day 1. It's true you can download Wii titles on the eShop, but any and all Wii discs are compatible with the Wii U and ready to play on an emulated Wii. Christ the old Wii shop itself is available on the Wii U. I think MS's step towards being more consumer friendly is important, but I worry that its just a gesture of good will and nothing else. Will be exciting to see where the feature is at in a years time.

Otherwise I agree with you, for me this was the E3 that made me want a Xbox One over a PS4. That doesn't mean I want any of them yet mind you.

The gameplay showing reminded me A LOT of the Lamnent infested factory from the first game, which was visually stunning, but also by far the shittiest part of the game. They'll need to change up the formular on a fundamental level if they want to make that sort of gameplay the focus, which I guess could be super exiting? Or fall flat on its face. No matter what, the gameplay demo was solid, I kinda think its hilarious how a lot of people always decry demos that are to focused on action, then when a usually action focused game takes a chance and shows of a demo focused on atmosphere, they hate it. Guess you can't win either way.

At the end of the day as long as you guys vote and take some kind of stand, that's really the most important part. I'm not an American myself, so I can't fully appreciate your situation, but hearing about the percentage of people not taking advantage of their civile rights never fail to chok me. Ryckert saying he didn't vote because he didn't give a toss about politics on Twitter legitemetly shocked me.

Christ this year has been INSANE thus far and we're only halfway done. So psyched for people with a good PC and current gen consoles and this certainly makes me look forward to getting one in 2016 (hopefully)
