Nier is my favourite RPG for a long time, don't believe the metacritic score, the New York Times review is right on the money in recognising it as one of the greats of this generation.
The other games mentioned are all worth at least trying too, Eternal Sonata is a real stand-out for me.... much darker than it's looks suggest. Happy Grinding!
