Dennou Coil, a virtual playground.

No Caption Provided

So...How to begin? I kept seeing this anime called Dennou Coil get recommended all over the place and wanted to take a look, how the show was isn't really important as the very concept of it which is what I want to talk about.

Exploring the depths of Cyberspace!
Exploring the depths of Cyberspace!

In this future, all kids are equipped with internet-connected, augmented reality eyeglasses and visors. Instead of simply allowing you to search the internet, look at a map, call each other etc. etc. the whole city has a digital overlay of sorts that simply replicates the whole city but in digital form. You also need a cyberbody, which is your own body but digitized! this allows you to interact with this virtual world such as: being able to interact with virtual objects such as virtual spraycans, fishing rods, or simply pet your virtual dog if you feel like it.

Don't be mistaken, this is still a computer and hackers are still around who are able to bend this virtual world to their will if they have the skills to do so, but if you don't you can buy illegal so called "Metatags" which is sort of pre-made hacking software you can buy if you don't have the skills to do it in real-time. Illegal software that allows you to destroy virtual matter is being sold on shady websites, you can get viruses and spam which can potentially break your glasses and you have to pay a fee to repair them.

An
An "encode" which hackers use to manipulate the virtual environment.

Why am I describing this fake world to you? I honestly don't quite know myself, I guess I just thought it was cool as hell and it seemed like a future where it was great to be a kid! you could have action packed battles with missiles, machine guns and ruin the environment around you without much consequence!

Though, as the show points out a couple of times, knowing what the hell is real and what is not is sometimes difficult.

That was all I wanted to say I guess!

Excuse my writing!

A weird feeling.

Monday Night Combat has made me feel something I've never felt before.

Even though I get my ass kicked I still have fun.

It's awesome.
