Podcasts can help you get to sleep because they cancel out racing thoughts. Buzz Out Loud and/or Tech News Today are good daily podcasts I listen to as I go to sleep. If you don't have roommates you can play the podcast through iPod speakers.
If I start feeling down or overwhelmed I just listen to music for like an hour and I feel much better. Playing guitar is also a good stress reliever, but I'm not quite good enough yet to finish learning a song before I get tired of it.
No matter what happens music will be there. That's comforting.
