Theses are all songs that I have liked enough to play a role in shaping who I am today. I can't name 15 songs that you could say define me, but I can name 5, so that's what I did.
I'm a relatively causal gamer (lately I've been alternating between Recettear and Spore on my free time) by GiantBomb standards. I don't own any consoles and my PC is pretty dated, so I don't play any new "hardcore" games.
I like reading about games more than I like playing them.
From the Department of Really Obvious Recommendations I might suggest Sigur Ros:
They put out a lot of the best chill music of any genre IMO; but its not exactly dubstep (which I define as electronic dance music with a pronounced beat and wobbly bass).
@nintendoeats: Well, if you think it's a 'gold mine' find someone in your area or online to partner with and start it as a hobby. Edit: The api is just for access to the database (got my terms mixed up) but there's other wiki software you can use for free.
Personally, I don't think there's too much money in it (I doubt there's very much money in GiantBomb either) and I have no interest in gear, but there's no reason you shouldn't try something l like that. It's good for experience if nothing else.
@nintendoeats: I think I see what you are saying: Like a gear website that, if you stay engaged with it, will make you more and more of an expert on gear. I think there are some people who find gear interesting enough to keep up with a website like that.
I think it's a good idea, but it might be too much of a narrow niche for a website like that to financially support itself (e.g. bring in enough money to support two full time hosts). I bet two likable, articulate Guitar Center employees could probably pull something like that off... they'd just have to keep their day job :-P
I don't think too many musicians buy gear the same way we buy video games, or even PC gamers upgrade their computers. I wouldn't listen to a weekly podcast or watch reviews for anything unless I was specifically looking for something (e.g. a mid range acoustic guitar or ukulele... right now I'm not looking for anything).
But who knows, maybe there's a market. There are lots of car-themed magazines and people don't buy cars frequently either.
Change the title tag to the organization name on all webpages (e.g. right now it's "Main" on the homepage)
Give some mouseover feedback on the links on top (change the color and underline)
Think about the changing the color scheme to something you'd get with math-based color scheme chooser (e.g. http://colorschemedesigner.com/ ). Also, maybe try to use fewer colors.
