My Backlog.

My gaming shelf is huge. I'm not talking like 20 games huge, I'm talking 100  games huge.

That's at least 5, if not 10 times the collection of most of my friends, and most rational people that just seem to want to rent games. I guess my issue is I like owning what I play- I'm not a fan of borrowing or renting, when it could just be...mine.

My friends think it's funny. There's games on my shelf I haven't even started, and there's games on my shelf that they've played more than I have, simply because I devote my time to so many games and rarely make my way all the way through them. But my main issue (or fear, I guess) is the games that I haven't touched yet. I'm talking the Army of Two and Dead Rising I bought off my best friend, and the Ninja Gaiden 2 I bought off Amazon, because they took the backburner to the Fallout 3's and Assassin's Creed 2's in my collection that I bought at the same time.

I guess my issue is that once I have games for so long without playing them, I don't want to- like there's some sort of stigma associated with those games- like they're the rejects of my collection because they were second best to some other game. But I need to get over that stigma, because there's a lot of good games still sitting on my shelf, unplayed, and it's really a shame. (Borderlands comes to mind immediately, but there's others).

So. I guess the point is. What can I do to beat this problem?   I'm still looking to buy games from friends, and it's like I can't stop myself, particularly when it's a good deal, even when I know I won't play them. Justifying the game is always the cost, and in my mind, a good cost means a good buy.  Please, help me, before I buy Street Fighter IV, and play one match before I stick it on my shelf to collect dust. Please.

(Sorry if you read this far, it's moronic rambling, I get it)

@jonnyboy:  I'm working on it. It's getting better. I haven't gotten a package from Amazon in a couple weeks. A few friends have offered to sell me games, and (so far) I've abstained.

If it makes you feel better I have the same issue. I've got games for the N64 and PS1 that I still haven't beat. Some I haven't even played. I just recently picked up Dino Crisis, though I'm not sure why. Then there's the current gen stuff that I get into and, yah, trust me, you're not alone. :P

Nothing wrong with game collecting.

Become unemployed, quit WoW and any game that is insanely time consuming with no progress being made.
