yeah, to the best of my knowledge (its been a while), the crashed alien ship is north of minefield, maybe... in anycase, its highly radiated so you have to dash in, collect all the loot and get out.  The alien blaster I believe is the most powerful weapon in the game, but you only get 110 rounds so make it count... I have yet to fire it once... I just walk around with it.

"I've yet to come across that area.  What part of the map is it in?

Back on topic, though, no area really depressed me, but the idea of (SPOILERS) humans being caught for eternity in the Vault by the corrupt, mad Overseer in Tranquility Lane was pretty sombering."
Its south on the map from Megaton.  Almost to the bottom.  Its a huge "arlington" district, I just went there for the bobblehead and wanted to cut my wrists when I left... I was also listening to Agathas radio station with the Violin... ugh, kill me.

Hands down its Arlington National Cemetery... Rolling hills of crooked graves and symbols of the past... plus (and a great design choice) no enemies. Makes you feel completely isolated with death everywhere. I think I may kill myself.

I've been pretty focused on side questing myself.  I wanted to space some things out while not lose the main story along the way.  I'm pretty happy with my results.

It depends on the bad guy and the situation... Overall, my Chinese Assault Riffle has been my go to for the majority of the game.  That said, close quarters combat, Terrible Shotgun. Something with some range and some punch, Lincolns Repeater. Yuo Guea (spelling, sorry) from 40 clicks away, a powered up Sniper rifle. Clear out a group of raiders in literally 2 seconds, Flamer.  I just like that each of the weapons really matter and can affect battle differently. I don't really llike the MiniGun all that much.  Doesnt seem as powerfull as it should.

Yeah if you have 40-60 hours of game time lying around while a sea of amazing games floats by. Don't get me wrong, Fallout 3 is hands down, bar none my game of the year, but I havn't even played Orange Box... I got shit to do.  I'll keep a save and go from there.
