They need to work on their live events. This was especially rough, but apparently the game is up and working on demo booths now. I'v seen some videos of it at the Logitech stand, and people seemed to be actually dogfighting.

@colorwind: Snake's eyes will actually adapt after a while. The caves are a bit maze-y, but nothing too complicated. There's some nice loot to be found in there as well. I've been recently going through the game on the vita after having kinda abandoned it for a time, and it's a lot of fun. As you said, it feels a bit clunky, but I suspect it's worse for people who've never played much of the early MGS games. I played MGS 1 on PC a loooooooooooooooooooooooong time ago, but never got a Ps2, so the HD collections were my first real opportunity to see what the deal was with these games, and obviously the lack of personal context with these games led to my approaching them with more modern gameplay in miind.

My real finals aren't until next week, but I did pretty well on both my last paper and exam, so i'm pretty optimistic about my average. I got an 8.1 on the exam and a 7.5 on the essay, which apparently both work out to As if you apply the 'official' Dutch to US grade table. The wiki page on Dutch academic grading says an 8 is awarded in ~12% of cases. Coughcoughhumblebragcough. I'm guesstimating, but I think my average might be close to a 7.5/10, which is good enough to get me into the MA track I want to do.

That said, I'm nearing the final semester of my bachelor phase, and will have to write a thesis soon, which i'm a bit nervous about.

I want to preface this by stating that there doesn't seem to be concrete information so far, but Gamereactor recently published a piece in which it cites 'trusted sources' as saying that a number of countries, namely the Scandinavian territories, Russia, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Switzerland could be in for further delays in the XBO launch schedule there, from the already less-than-solid 'early 2014'.GRs sources claim that the 'nordics' (curiously, it makes no further mention of the non-nordic countries it mentioned earlier) may not see a launch until Q3 of next year. Gamereactor article

If true, this is bad news for MS. Individually, these are probably small markets, but taken together, they represent a significant consumer base, of which a large part may buy Sony (or Nintendo) if they are faced with an extended unavailability on Microsoft's part.

EDIT: NVM, apparently I entirely missed the previous thread on this, lol.

It really should just have the option to export your stuff to proper imagehosts instead of FB/twitter.

How are they getting past the HDCP stuff?

Software update post-launch IIRC.

(online) stores here in the Netherlands started selling through their pre-orders months ago -as far back as early august- and at that time I was not sure I wanted a Ps4. I'm still not entirely sure I want one at launch ( definitely getting one eventually) but if i'm able to find one in stores on the 29th, I may get it. I wonder if they'll actually have a decent amount of boxes in stores...Unless there's a clear shot at getting a box without going through a stampede, i'm not going to attend any midnight openings or what have you either. I want one, but not that badly.

PS4 to Splitter1, Splitter1A to monitor1input1, Splitter1B to Switch, Switch to HDPVR2.

PS3 to Splitter2, Splitter 2A to monitor1input2, Splitter 2B to Switch, Switch to HDPVR2.

PS4 audio gets TOSLINK digital to analogue conversion into my audio mixer, PS3 goes in straight via its analogue output, and the mixer feeds into the HDPVR2 analogue input along with my speakers and my PC.

Only change I want to do is to get something better and more reliable than the Hauppauge HDPVR2. The maximum 14mbit rate is harsh at 1080p60 recorded as 1080p30.

I use Hauppauge's colossus, which is internal (PCI-E). It does 20mbit/s on the pack-in Arcsoft Showbiz, although i've seen other cap utilities slide up to 24mbit/s. Internal cards have the advantage of being able to use PCI, though. I have no experience with other Hauppauge products, but the included documentation was kind of shit in that it does not point out all kinds of little things you'll need to know to make things work, and I don't like Showbiz. The card itself has been very solid, and the offloaded encoding means you can use it with demanding PC games as well. At this point, if you're looking for new hardware, i'd make sure its able to process progressive footage. It's not that big of a deal, but if you also upload to YT, it does save you from having to adapt your project/sequence settings and likely saves you a fair chunk of time in the rendering process in your NLE, as it there's no messing around with field blending/interpolating.

I'm thinking of getting into streaming as well, particularly because the experience for small game channels on YT isn't getting any better, but I wonder how long it'll take for Sony to implement the HDCP toggle for games so we can build more robust streaming setups rather than just throwing it out to twitch via the console itself.

People on here seem really unsympathetic about all this, If the rumors are true and Youtube is blocking next gen footage that puts A lot of people out of Jobs. This is also about the integrity of journalism, Imagine restricting access to movie reviews or opinions on other products, It creates An unfair and dishonest industry.

I'm fairly sure large outfits could strike a deal about it, but still. I think this 'd cut into a large segment of the smaller channels run by random people, as I suspect the major incentive for a lot of people to upload to YT is the prospect of somehow being able to monetize it. I hope they don't block it at all, since i enjoy doing it just for the sake of it, and it's helping me build a portfolio. Of course, being able to some day earn some money off of it would be great (especially since you're essentially providing free exposure for the publisher/dev) but i've always had my reservations about intermediaries that don't add anything to the creation process but just got in there early enough to strike copyright deals and more or less constrict the space.
