@HandsomeDead said:Resident Evil 5 is the real killer. RE4 took the gameplay in the right direction and the story in the wrong direction but RE5 ruined both in irredeemable ways.Usually I'd write up some long-winded rant about how I kinda both loved and hated so many factors of the series as it progressed from RE4 onwards, but this here sums it all up nicely.
Though I cannot leave out how fucking insanely stupid of a decision it was to turn RE5 into some kinda cover-based third person shooter nearing the end. I found the game pretty fun throughout the first few sections, purposely tuning out the hate-brigade I had screaming inside of how the series has been turned upside down by this point, but once you hit the part where the majini got guns... I lost it. I'm pretty sure I just put down the pad for about an hour and turned the PS3 off.
Enemies were using dynamites, catapults, bows and arrows, and turrets in RE4. If any, using guns it's easier for them. But I agree with you, the fact that zombies were no longer zombies, but puppets was the moment RE was no longer what we all used to love. I still enjoyed the last games. Hopefully, crossing fingers, RE6 will bring back somehow the nostalgia of the originals.
