If your wife takes the time to prepare and cook you supper, you make a great deal of it and appreciate the time and effort it took, but maybe like, days later, you find a casual way to mention something that could be improved, eg. "it's funny, but mom always used a LOT of fresh basil, and I kinda loved it", but be casual about it. If the nanny is a super good cook, you wanna downplay that to your wife -- it's not rocket science.
Just out of curiosity, are we talking a simple marinara, an alla puttanesca, or what?
