I have not watched Giant Bomb since Vinny, Brad and Alex left. If you really thought it wasnt a sign of things to now be here you were wrong. I was/am certain the rumors were true and Jeff only stayed due to a contractual type obligation which I bet is now over.
When Giant Bomb was sold again it was pretty clear that Giant Bomb was done. I was not interested in the corporate direction of the sites claim then, and even less so now. I suspect Jeff wasn't really interested either. I only continue to occasionally come here to archive videos I don't have until the inevitable complete decimation of the archive which is already slowly disappearing in waves of weird removals that are being left unwatchable unless you download them and a lot of videos which don't even have youtube connections.
Giant Bomb is dead. They may as well rebrand at this point because this isnt Giant Bomb. That's not necessarily bad, and the people here now are not bad, but they have to prove they are something else. Their own kind of Giant Bomb, for whoever is into this thing now. I did my time, all of which I will remember forever because I spent way too much time on this website from beginning to end with no net positive effects beyond enjoying what this site used to be.
I wish them luck but with Jeff G being out of the website he created with words that make it clear where this is now I know the sites days are numbered. Mark my words. Download those videos you like from when this site did amazing on set content for almost decade because "tomorrow" a lot of it will be gone.
Ya, I figured they wouldn't actually play through all of Kingdom Hearts. I mean if they actually played through all of one of these then the first one is the one I'd recommend. Although the other two main line games get real stupid. But the first one is the most fun to play.
Just as a response to the continued discourse of Giant Bomb's members never being very interested in Oddworld platformers (except maybe Vinny- their comments on it have always been the same and I am not judging it but Brad was acting here like no one wants more of these games): I love the Oddworld games that are these kinds of platformers (The other ones where they did other stuff not so much). I buy them every time I see them release somewhere.
I'm very much looking forward to this even with it looking like they made this exactly the same as the original ones except on a newer modern engine- and maybe added crafting. Knowing what they keep doing over the past decade I bet they had a poll on the website where they asked and the response to the poll was "I want another one of those." I suspect that's why the mechanics and game play are pretty old school from the look in this quick look. For me this is not a problem as I have always liked the way these games play. I love that they haven't compromised that if that is the case (I'll know when I play it).
Not every game, or media of entertainment, is made for everybody. And it shouldn't be.
I'm super looking forward to playing this. I may play Odyssey and Exodus again before I play this just... because they're so much fun. Some of my favorite games of all time- like top 20 or so.
I love that FMV is still a thing and that there are some developers that understand why it's an interesting mechanic. Or at least appear to understand why.
I love these games despite being an adult when they came out. The first one is the best one still- probably because the story is just anime but not completely up it's own butt yet. By the second main line game the story is nonsense and the gameplay is silly but I still find it fun because the nostalgia is so strong in it. They even somehow evoke nostalgia for the first game with it.
I haven't finished the third one yet. It's a weird one, but I like it for the most part so far. Even though it does what most games do now and has a lot of busy work.
Wow, 10 years. I remember watching this live. I think they did several live shows that day and this was the last one. Crazy day full of a lot of great videos.
If nothing else I loved the first game because of it's style. As long as the gameplay mechanics do not get in the way, in a bad way, I am looking forward to this game.
