Before Halo 4 comes out I want to know what is the GB community's favorite and least favorite campaign in the series?
I'll start by saying mine is Halo CE. There is a reason they remade because its a classic that still holds up. This game gets everything right from the mission structure, AI, set pieces, combat, pacing, atmosphere, music, story, etc. The only bad that can be said about this game is the level design which is very repetitive. Its also my favorite because its the only game in the series that strike me with a sense of wonder and mystery when you get out of the escape pod to investigate the ringworld Halo.
My least favorite is Halo Reach. It just didn't click with me as the other Halos have and there was just nothing memorable about it. The missions were dull and the levels were lifeless. There were no memorable moments to speak of, with the only exceptions being the beginning of The Long Night of Solace and the space combat which I have to admit was well done. It tried to have an emotional story but it fell flat on its face because the characters were one dimensional stereotypes. The soundtrack was excellent as its usually is as well as the enemy AI, it even had a clever ending. Aside from that it arguably had the worst made campaign in the Halo series.
Uh... Quake 2's soundtrack was done by Trent Reznor. I've heard it, but only to the background of the game, and I can't say that I remember it, but maybe that?
EDIT: Yep. Quake 2's soundtrack. Thank God for Youtube!
No Trent Reznor worked on the first Quake. Sonic Mayhem (his professional name) did the music for Quake 2.
@CouncilorChief: I can defintely see where are coming from there too. Do you think it sounds off for a halo game? I do but maybe its just me.
Not really but 343 Industries are taking some new direction in the series. I'll judge when I see when this is played in the game, hopefully during a appropriate mood. But I've liked what I've heard so far. Not on par with Marty but still pretty good.
Marty O DOnnel created some of the best music ever featured in a video game. A lot of those tracks were amazing.
Just bungie messed up halo by running it into the ground and cashing in on the same idea over and over again.
Yeah they should just change the core gameplay so they can appeal to a wider audience like how Ubisoft did with Splinter Cell Blacklist and EA with Dead Space 3.
Maybe play those games before you make statements like that?
I think he was being sarcastic. I think.
This sound pretty cool, I've been a pretty big fan of all the music I've heard for the game so far. I wonder if Trent Reznor has some time...
I was being sarcastic. Splinter Cell Blacklist and Dead Space 3 look like shit by removing the core elements that differentiate from most action games. Blacklist is Splinter Cell without the stealth and the horror themes of Dead Space 3 are entirely absent. Sure it I may come off irrational for saying all this before the games even come out. But who can blame me after watching this idiot yapping about pulpling.
You mentioned Trent Reznor which reminds me of something.
