  • Dragon Age: Origins is the best video game I have played in years. The game itself is nostalgic in its DnD style combat, yet it retains something more of those old days. What truly makes this game so magnificent, is how it is able to capture infinitely small details of humor and cultural references in almost all interaction with the game; not to mention the blatantly obvious Easter eggs e.g. Superman reference.

Overall; this game makes itself to the top of my list because it keeps an upbeat, immerse story combined with enthralling, strategic combat, to create an experience I haven't felt since the days of black isle studios; the game not only appeals to old timers, but also opens itself up to players new to the genre with open arms. Personally, Dragon Age is my favorite game of 2009 as it demonstrates the DnD genre, my DnD genre, is eternal.

Looking at all the recent 'Blast from the past' game genres; this game, among others, feeds my secret hope to see a revival of the space simulation genre...

  • The most important game to come out this year. I personally put it at the top because it manages deep artistic meaning in its series of non-linear gameplay; more importantly, it lies to you, and well.

  • RTS/RPG; Very Addicting

    In addition, great post-release support

by the devs through new maps & modes.

  • This game is a good satire of Heavy metal and its many motifs.

I really enjoyed it for the world and story surrounding it.

Other than that, the game-play is interesting.

  • I enjoy rts/tbs blends, and move onto whichever is the most recent.

Empire: Total War wrangled too much time out of me, so I'll place it

on this pedestal, and see if it leaves me alone.

  • Good actiony game.

Too short IMO for the cost/price of a game, but makes for quite an experience.

  • Borderlands did something I was skeptical of, but in a very confined manner. That is, blending an RPG and FPS genre. Though Borderland's game mechanics of standard first person shooting and diablo-like loot rush are rather primitive, the game allows a stepping stone to develop superior FPS/RPG game play mechanics.

The game itself, though primitive, hits the perfect combination of game play at its demographic by . Making an addicting first person shooter for addicted first person shooters, but using different mechanics to keep the players loving this game.
