@Crushed: If somebody can present me a compelling argument for why a sensible person might have expected D3 to deliver ten years of enjoyment with no flaws, then I'll certainly consider it.

Homelessbird, please stop telling people that they can't legitimately think that D2 is better without it being "nostalgia" or "misplaced expectations/"

@Crushed: I guess you can still say "those show suck," but if you spent several hours watching them, and then you talk about them to your friends afterward, does it matter that they "suck"?

Yes.

Ok, then:

why?

Because it wasn't that "entertaining," it was just something to kill time with, and just like junk TV, the novelty quickly wore off after the first few hours. Only instead of dumb TV shows, I paid $60 for it.

The "well you got hours of entertainment out of it, it can't be bad" argument that gets applied to Diablo III (and last year, Skyrim) can be undermined if you use an example that a lot of GB users can understand:

Trashy daytime TV like Storage Wars or mindless History Channel specials.

You can spend all day watching them because you don't have to think or feel anything while you do. You do it because there's nothing else on and there's a lot of it to kill time with. It's just pumping enough junk data into your head to stimulate your brain. But at the end of your session, you can probably come out of it and still say, "man, those shows suck."

Blizzard tried to make (and hype) this game like it was an MMO or capable of the same long-term satisfaction as WoW or SC2. They didn't succeed.

I'm working on a piece on low cost (under $350) 3D tools for Blaster
Magazine. Part of the article includes quotes from the people that use the
software I'm reviewing, so I'm looking for quotes concerning these programs:

AddDepth
LogoMotion
Persistance of Vision
Simply 3D
KPT Bryce
3D Choreographer
Adobe Dimensions
trueSpace

If you can offer information concerning these products (like things the
program is good for, things that other programs are good for) or if you use
a product that is under $350 and isn't on this list, then please let me know
by replying to this. (e-mail or post, doesn't matter)

Can someone tell me what's the deal with the "6.8" joke? I guess it has to do with a score he gave to a game, but which was it?

Shenmue was given a 6.8 by GameSpot (not Jeff). It got revised to 7.8 a short while later.

It actually runs full Microsoft Office. That's actually pretty damn huge.

The Return of the Jedi comparisons are pretty funny.

ME3's ending is like if Luke entered the Emperor's throne room, only for the Emperor to not be there. A hologram of that one dead Ewok appears and tells Luke that the Empire and the Force were created to stop the heat death of the universe (don't ask questions, I said it so it's true). Luke transforms into the 2001 Starchild and the Death Star II explodes, destroying the Force and hyperspace technology. The Millennium Falcon crashes on an unknown planet (it left the Battle of Endor for some reason), and all of Luke's friends somehow got on it. Han, C-3PO, and Lando's alien friend get out and smile. Roll credits.
