Anecdotally the ER has sold quite a few copies of P4 (both P4 and P3 in my case). Atlus can't be too upset about it. It's free advertising basically. "
I think Atlus might have been annoyed if they started a P4 Endurance Run the day the game came out, but starting it when they did is nothing but free advertising.
