At least something other than 1-2-Switch is finally using that infared camera on the bottom of the right joycon.

Playing Shadow of War on Nemesis difficulty. One of my coworkers took last week off for his birthday and nearly 100% it but he said that normal was kind of unsatisfying so I decided to start it on Nemesis which means its relatively easy to die even to a random pack of Orcs. Big item upgrades feel like a significant power increase. I had one point where I had died 3 times in a row and was considering knocking it down to normal but then I got a few really good upgrades that increased my survivability significantly.

The game doesn't have an hour count that I know of but I'm probably about 12 hours in, Act 2 in the first area, nearly ready for my first siege, just trying to make sure I've installed my warchiefs before I go in. Really enjoying it and I'm curious how I'll feel when I'm in the endgame since from Brad's description it sounds like a real grind.

I hope this does happen. I was planning to not play Kiwami since I've played the PS2 version and instead re-experience it through the GB East crew.

Finished Uncharted: Lost Legacy this morning. I was expecting it to be good since I like the series and its Naughty Dog but wow that game sticks the landing. Chapter 4 the free roaming nonlinear one everyone is talking about is really neat but I wasn't expecting the pacing and set pieces of that stuff after that to be so good. It probably has the best last chapter in the series if I think about it.

I played a few matches last night. Still feels a lot like Call of Duty obviously. Went with Airborne as my Division, was doing kind of poorly with the submachine gun that Division starts with but then spent my first unlock token on the M1 Garand and was doing much better. Played a mix of modes but have not played the new War mode yet.

It seems a bit weird that the new Headquarters stuff doesn't seem to be in the beta since that seems to be the big new thing.

I just barely missed the Best Buy Canada preorder and the EB Games online pre order but then I realized if the online pre orders are up then the physical stores are probably taking preorders. So I took advantage of working at home and being near a mall, popped over to EB Games before other people started to figure that out.

Got my preorder. There were 4 other people who showed up while I was waiting who also wanted to preorder the system so I think I timed that right.

I'm surprised Relic is the developer considering they are owned by Sega. I was expecting this to be Skybox Labs since they did all the Age of Empires HD stuff but hey Relic has the pedigree and they are also a Vancouver BC developer so that is cool.

CA is a Sega studio and they did Halo Wars 2. Seems like the Sega-MS relationship is ongoing.

AOE is almost as far from Relic's games as you can get while staying in the RTS genre, so I'm not sure how this will turn out.

Oh yeah it totally slipped my mind that Sega owns both. That makes more sense then, established relationship and whatnot.

Spider-Man: Homecoming

Heard good things, wanted to see it before it left theaters but it took a bit to coordinate with friends. Starts out really strong with the events of Captain America: Civil War recontextualized in a fun way. It is not really an origin story, there is no Uncle Ben but they find an interesting arc for the character. Tom Holland continues to be fun as Spider-Man. Micheal Keaton is the best version of the Vulture I've ever seen and one of the stronger Marvel Cinematic Universe villains. Robert Downey Jr puts some effort into making his role in this much more than an extended cameo which is cool.

I thought the trailers showed too much but was pleasantly surprised that a lot of the best stuff in the movie was not really spoiled. The movie has a surprising and deliberate John Hughes vibe throughout which really helps give it a unique tone against the other Marvel movies. I would have liked the ensemble cast of the academic decathlon team to have more to do in the movie together, instead they mostly hint at what is to come.

A solid fun movie that sticks out tonally against the other Marvel movies with a strong cast, tons of cameos and a strong start for the Sony / Marvel shared picture deal.

4/5
