Kind of glad it is not launching this year. This fall is looking crazy packed already. Not that next fall won't be but I'm not quite prepared to buy another console this year.
I always said Nintendo would be the first out of the gate with their next console. I mean it makes sense, their system was never designed for the 10 year cycle that Sony and MS are trying.
I expect about half of these rumors are true. I mean a sensor bar built into the controller doesn't make any sense. The sensor bar was used to let the camera on WiiRemote tell where the TV is, knowing where itself is doesn't make sense.
I also hope the rumor about it being the size of a 360 is dead wrong. One of my favorite things about the Wii is that it takes up almost no space and I would suspect a Japanese company would be pushing for that type of form factor again.
So far I don't really see BF3 being a "Watershed Moment" for the FPS genre. I think it will be solid and fun both in the Campaign and the Multiplayer but so far it seems very par for the course. I think it has a good chance of stealing some of the attention from Modern Warfare 3 this year but I don't really think it is because it is bringing anything new to the table gameplay wise.
Battlefield 2 was actually the game that brought persistent leveling up and unlocks to the FPS multiplayer genre but I far as I have heard I don't think BF3 is bringing anything as groundbreaking.
I grabbed the Potato Sack on the weekend and participated in hunting for Potatoes despite the fact that I am buying the PS3 version and wouldn't be able to play my PC/Mac version till I have that. It was just a fun community thing to do, I got to play a bunch of games I personally had not tried yet and some of the extra content added for this event is pretty good. Seriously check out the Portal level for The Ball, it is like another Portal game, the production values are great.
I like P atrick Klepek so this is great news. A news wrap-up show would be pretty awesome (I see Vinny toiling away on it in my head right now) but obviously I would be wary of it being detrimental to the other video content. I would be happy with a Friday comic-vine style weekly news show even if it wouldn't be the most timely thing in the world.
