My 10 Favorite Games of All Time!

These are my top 10 favorite games ever. Honestly, although I play games a lot, there are MANY big franchises that I've never even played such as MGS or Chrono Trigger, so please don't be offended if YOUR favorite games aren't here, after all wouldn't it be boring if we all played the same games and had the same games in our top 10? That being said some of these picks are somewhat predictable and common, but that's only because of how agreed the community are on some of these titles as the best ever.

List items

  • Do I need to say anything? Let's be honest, almost every 10 best games ever concludes with this and you've probably heard all the reasons before, so I don't think you need me to explain yet again why we love Ocarina of Time. I will mention however, that as well as thing being my favorite game of all time, it also has my favorite soundtrack of all time. Stunning.

  • I actually only played this recently, and for a game that's 20 years old it ought to be damn good to be my second favorite of all time, especially seeing as it's impossible for me to feel nostalgic about this game, which is often slated as a misguiding grudge when selecting best games ever. Well let me just say I haven't been so involved in a games characters and story like this ever before, and from what I've been told I have a lot to look forward to in Chrono Trigger. Superb music, amazing story, engaging gameplay.

  • Admittedly nostalgia does bump this one up a peg or two on the list, but I just can't describe the feeling of going back to Johto and overcoming it's 8 gyms. This blew my mind when I first played it, even more so than Pokemon Red, and I can still thoroughly enjoy playing it to this day. What's so wrong with a bit of nostalgia eh?

  • You either love it or hate it. Obviously the latter for me. Any game that I can sink hundreds of hours into and to not have completed a single objective prompted by the game is special in my books. I don't play it as much these days, but every now and then I go back to my original world which I still have to this day. I built an entire treehouse city, a network of wooden cabins in the forest, a place that really felt like home. For a while I was pretty much living there more than I was my actual house in real life.

  • There's actually a story behind this one. In 2007 when I was in my first year of secondary school, Call of Duty 4 came out and my entire class went crazy for it, myself included. A friend of mine couldn't afford it and begged me to lend it to him. I apologized and said no because I was completely addicted and there was no way I was giving it away. The next day he came into school and offered me something called 'The Orange Box' in return for Call of Duty 4. I felt pretty sorry for him and handed it over. The Orange Box collected dust for a few days until I had a boring rainy day. I played through Half Life Episode 2, and unlike so much of the community, I wasn't completely blown away by it. When I finished it I noticed portal and out of boredom started playing. Little did I know I had just found my fifth favorite game of all time.

  • It's an open world wild west game by Rockstar. Done.

  • Didn't expect this one I bet. I actually never played Rollercoaster Tycoon, instead I picked Zoo Tycoon as a kid for whatever reason, probably because I was obsessed with animals and Pokemon. Never ending replay value, and to me, endless fun creating the best or worst Zoo possible. I don't what it is about it, but the title screen music is absolutely amazing to me.

  • A lot of people HATE this game for it's controversial addition of a water jetpack. Honestly I think people are subject to follow the masses on the internet a lot and will hate something just because its the popular thing to do. As a kid I played Super Mario 64, Super Mario World and Sunshine, and without the internet screaming about the water stuff I found it just fine and was able to enjoy my favorite Mario game, and I refuse to replace it with whatever the internet think is the best like so many people are.

  • Although it wasn't exactly the game I was hoping for it was still one of the most beautifully crafted fantasy worlds I'd ever played in. I honestly don't think it would be on this list if it wasn't for the music.

  • In 2007 there was Call of Duty 4 and Halo 3. I loved both but as time went on I found myself gravitating towards Halo and by 2008 I had become completely addicted to the multiplayer. I actually stole my dads credit card so I could download the map packs. I got in a heap of trouble but I remember thinking to myself that it was worth it. Something like that seems bizarre to me nowadays, so I must have been seriously into this game.
