Experiencing some GB nostalgia. I remember this office. Good times. Back when GB was new and the OG crew was there.

I joined Giantbomb on day one. I haven’t really been following for the last 3-4 years though but when I read that Jeff Gerstman left I had to hear his new podcast and this again. I don’t recognise many of staff and for me the glory days for Giantbomb will always be the first years when it was part of Whiskey Media and Ryan Davis was still alive. I’ve missed a lot. I didn’t know that Dan left. Has Brad left too? I remember Drew leaving and that was sad. I guess Abby left as well I seem to recall hearing about it but at that point I wasn’t regularly visiting GB anymore. Hope you do well but I’m not sure if I will stick around. Maybe I’ll watch some of the old Whiskey Media videos again if those are still around and not behind a paywall. I’d like some kind of recap of what has going on since 2018 or so and who the new people are etc and maybe I’ll visit GB again bit I feel a bit lost like when you load an old save and can’t remember any of the characters or quests or the gameplay. I watched pretty much every video you guys made the first 10 years and classics such as the Persona 4 ER and Drew and Dan playing Metal Gear Solid will forever stay with me. I loved the community and I hope it still is as good as it was. I still rock my old GB and Whiskey Media T shirts and they still hold up well a decade later after a lot of use. Sorry for the rambling but all this happening remind me of when Jeff left Gamespot back in the day and did the Podcast with Ryan David that led to GB and there are a lot of great memories so it is bittersweet.

Edit: Another memory I have of GB is when Patrick did an article about me or at least about my condition. It was fun to work with him on that and see GB make an article about people like me even if I did ask to be anonymous and I doubt anyone remember the article after a decade but it meant something to me.

I loved this on GBA. Great to see this! I've missed the AW games.

I paid a lot for a physical copy of the game on Wii U. It was only a limited edition released here in Europe with no physical in the US so it was expensive. Soon every Wii U game I've collected will be on other platforms. At least Xenoblade Chronicles X is still an exclusive so it was not a complete waste to buy the Wii U. It is a cool scary game so I guess it is neat that others can enjoy it though. But since it required the Wii U Gamepad to take photos it won't be the same with a controller.

This looks the same....

Maybe if you compare to the PC version with high res textures. It looks much better than the console versions. Going from 720p30fps (that often dipped down to 20fps) to 4k60fps makes a huge difference. And there are much faster loading times. And they improved the water effects and lighting as well. Not to mention changed the gameplay in the first game to be more like ME2 and 3.

It is not a remake. For a remaster they did alot. You probably havent played the console versions in awhile. Just having a steady frame rate helps a lot and the texture pop in in the first game was really bad on original consoles.

The original ending of ME3 that most people got since they played it before they revised the ending and added the DLC made a lot of people not even want to play any DLC. The Wii U version doesn't even have the option to buy the DLC. This should have been part of the main game. You don't need to finish the game to do the Citadel DLC but it should be done last right before the point of no return. There is where you will end up if you load a save after finishing the game anyway.

It is no fun without the ship sinking. I played quite a bit of Silent Hunter 3 and 4 many years ago. The damage in this game seems even worse than unmodded SH3 which is what 15 years old?

GB playing this game made me buy the Wii U version despite already owning several other versions of ME3. While the gamepad isn't the easiest to use to aim I actually do like having the powers on the touch screen.

I played Red Alert first as a kid and loved it. I never liked C&C as much but still played it. Had it both on PC and PS1. Too bad Tiberian Sun isn't here as I think that has the best campaign of all C&C games. I used to have the big box versions of all these games but I just have a DVD case version of Red Alert now.

I have this game but have not played much. I do love the Cold Steel games though and have them all on PS4 physical.
