Boats, then trains, now planes?

The Legend of Zelda series might (but probably not) be getting even more transportation as the director of the Zelda franchise, Eiji Aonuma, hinted at a possible flight mechanic maybe being in the next game?

@Eiji Aonuma said:

"I have an eight-year-old son myself at home, and quite recently he started playing The Phantom Hourglass for DS, because when the software first hit the market he was too young. When he started playing with the boat, I told him: 'In the next Zelda, you are going to be able to ride on the train.' He answered: 'OK, Dad, first boat, and then train? Surely next time, Link is going to fly in the sky ... '" Aonuma pauses, grinning. "I just don't know. If many people make many speculations ... some of them might be correct. Right now, I have to refrain from commenting on anything."

So Link fights Ganon on an airship or something?  Okay, Nintendo, you've sort of lost me.  If flying is going to be the big hook for this game, I don't think it will differ much from the others.  I need more than just some wings or a Cessna to make us go all Majora over a Zelda game nowadays.  And although I loved Twilight Princess, I don't want to see a traditional Zelda for a while.

Oh, and he apologizes for the most agonizing moment in gaming history known as the Water Temple.  His bad.

Oh, the interview is all here in this handy link

The Water Temple is actually super clever. And not THAT hard. Use your brain!

I always thought it was trains, planes and automobiles. Link in a Hummer, hell fuckin' yeah... gah, just kidding, flight would be cool.

I use gamefaqs, so the Water Temple was trial and error until I got stuck and had to read. I liked it though, lots of things going on and you had to think about many different skill sets.

@Oni: Nobody likes using their brain to play games!
