Oh you've probably heard the rumors by now. Wii HD, the revival of an old franchise, and the new DS are making headlines as Nintendo's press conference nears. Nintendo hasn't gotten a lot of press lately because of the lack of news on pretty much anything except when the NPD numbers come out. And Nintendo has kept a low profile after E3 which was universally hated by many. So what's with all the Nintendo talk lately?
Tomorrow is the big fall press conference extravaganza which could possibly sink or swim Nintendo among its core audience. So many of us are hoping for something huge... whether it's new hardware or a Zelda teaser, we don't know. What we know is that the rumors and speculation are rampant.
Personally, I'm not interested in any new hardware from Nintendo... the Wii is fine as is and the DS doesn't need another makeover. Why fix it if it ain't broke? It's not hardware I'm interested in, it's games... and right now, we're seeing some potentially interesting stuff from 3rd party developers, but not much from Nintendo themselves. I would like to see Nintendo start announcing stuff like crazy like: Pikmin 3, Zelda Wii, Punch-Out!!, Kid Icarus, F-Zero, Star Fox, and a minimum of 4 new IPs... at least 3 catering to core gamers.
Wishful thinking, I suppose, but I think everybody will be talking about this conference tomorrow if it owns or fails. I hope for owns.
