Acornographer

Unlike many gamers, I didn't start off on the consoles, nor the PC.  I gorged on every chance I could play my friends' Amiga and Sega Master Systems.  Later on my primary school (AKA elementary) did what every other British, Australasian and Irish schools did - purchased an Acorn Archimedes computer as they were heavily targeted at education.  When it came to my parents choosing between an Amiga and an Acorn machine, I made them choose the Archimedes A3010.

A lot of the games were ported from the Amiga: Lotus Turbo Challenge; Chuck Rock; Lemmings (what platform has Lemmings not been on!); Dune II; Magic Pockets; etc.  Not to forget the pretty beefy update to Elite!  However, amongst the rough there were a few exclusive Gems like Asylum and Phaethon - even Starfighter 3000 was an original RISC OS game.

So, after listening to the Bombcast for the longest time I decided it was time to actually rummage around the Giant Bomb site and see what it was all about.  At first I was unsure of what I could contribute to a community that already had covered almost all corners of gaming but then I found the under represented Acorn gaming from my youth.  So that's what I plan on doing - putting the word out about an old school of gaming that I know at least a few people grew up with.  It all starts with the big requests for renaming the Acorn Software Products, Inc. page to Acorn Computing and with any luck, succeeding with the Acorn Archimedes being established as a Giant Bomb platform.
