My personal life is exciting but busy, so I don't have much time left over for gaming. I have been making an effort to spend less time on my phone and more time gaming, just because the world is so damn depressing, so I suppose I use gaming as a form of escapism, not from my personal life but from the world in general.

It seems like there's much more focus on video content in the redesign compared to the current design. That's not a bad thing. That's just the way the internet is trending today.

The front page is a little awkward and could use some condensing. I share the sentiment that the top portion takes up way too much space. You have to scroll down to see anything other than the latest video because it takes up so much space.

Also, Giant Bomb is much more than just a video website. There's great podcasts, forums, and an entire video game wiki, yet none of that is being showed off on the front page; it's hidden away in tabs at the top of the page while videos take up three quarters of the real estate. I think condensing the videos down and adding more to the front page would be worthwhile.

I really hope they have more online features to announce at E3. $20 a year isn't a huge burden, but I'm not happy if all I'm getting is save data backup (which should be free), a couple dozen retro games I may or may not want to play, and access to Nintendo's convoluted online infrastructure.

I don't see anything wrong with them. To me, it's no different than packaging a singe player campaign in with a game like Call of Duty or Titanfall. The difference is that this is unexplored territory for the Madden franchise.

"Influencers" implies a degree of corruption as if the GB staff is trying to convince us to buy certain products at some company's behest, and there is no evidence to support such an idea. In fact, a large reason GB exists is because Jeff flat-out refused to be a shill under significant pressure to do so. While GB is definitely more of a personality-driven site now than some other traditional "review sites", I have never gotten the sense that they're offering anything other than their legitimate opinions on things, and even in interactions with some industry titans at E3s and the like, they sure don't lob softballs, either.

Let's also consider that they were pretty well out in front of the "let's plays" and "streamer" stuff that is now ubiquitous on Youtube, Twitch, etc. If anything, much of that is a copy of what GB has been doing for some time, so implying that GB changed to be more like Youtubers seems backwards. I don't see any reason why they should be trusted any less because they moved away from the dying "review site" model. They were ahead of the curve in several respects, and it kinda sounds like you're trying to ding them retroactively for what less scrupulous others have done since.

I don't think corruption is the right word. I would wager there are plenty of influencers who legitimately enjoy the games they are playing; they just happen to be getting paid to promote the game.

There's only one movie on the list from this century. Have movies become that bad? Maybe we just haven't had a chance to develop an appreciation for recent films.

@indigodays: I also recently saw Wonder Woman. It was a fun movie to watch. Granted, I haven't seen a comic book film in forever. But it was still enjoyable.

I thought they overplayed the whole leaving the island for the first time, ignorant of how the world works bit. She struggled to adjust to the real world, which is to be expected, but they just kept it going. They make her look downright stupid.

It wasn't as exciting as I was hoping it would be, but in a year seeing a bunch of amazing games come out (this is the best time to be playing video games after all) I guess I can't be too surprised.

Nintendo's event was short and sweet. That Odyssey trailer made their whole show. It definitely made me want to go out and buy a Switch.

Sony's press conference was terrible. I think they're letting their market position get to their heads; it's like they didn't even try this year. Someone just stuck a bunch of trailers together and called it good.

Microsoft was in the middle. They made a great case for the Xbox One X. I don't see myself getting one, but for someone trying to decide on a console, Microsoft took away the PS4 Pro as being the obvious choice.

Giant Bomb coverage was great as always.

When they announced this, they stated it was only a limited time thing. The only surprise to me here is that they're just now discontinuing it.

I've never really thought about just how different from every Mario game it is. It's one of the first Gamecube games I played, and I enjoyed it quite a bit. I also never experienced the camera issues everyone else is describing. I can see why others might be turned off, but for me it's a classic.
