2015 ANTICIPATION LIST

2014 had a lot of hold overs onto 2015, not to mention many of the touted release dates for 2015 have already been delayed again. It's good to see developers taking their time and not having to rush out a half-finished product that's poorly optimised for PCs, and then lying out their fucking ass about "how we care about gamers/community/you/your mother... etc" bullshit! Yeah I'm talking to you EA and Ebisoft, shit has been getting worse.

UPDATE

2015 might actually be my year of playing more games. XCOM 2 and Fallout 4 being announced within the same week. And hopefully will come out in late 2015.

UPDATE

Same shit, new year of broken PC games. Nice work and a big thumbs up to all the major developers for helping make my experience worse every year with my PC. How wrong was I to be hopeful to think publishers and developers learnt their lesson. I guess history teaches us that no one learns any lesson.

I have less time each year to play games so when I get the opportunity I don't want an experience so shit that you have to recall a game from sale. I'll always be a PC gamer, and one who will use Keyboard and Mouse over a controller. The day they stop supporting them is the day I stop playing games, period

Over the years publishers and developers are more interested in the potential lucrative, casual couch PC-Console hybrid, than the old guard of a keyboard and mouse on a table.

Phil Spencer's talk about the future of PC gaming has me worried, he's view is XBOX and PC gaming are the same thing and should be and will be the same thing. RIP mouse and keyboard. Thanks Windows 10. Thanks for merging everything I don't do want, with my PC and gaming into something I'll never do.

List items

  • So Jake Solomon is back, and he and his team are doing the things they wished got into XCOM:EU and with a new totalitarian setting. Goodbye outside world. I know what I'll be doing for the next few months/years. Will be making weapon mods. Also Solomon has said keyboard and mouse is the way to play. That's all I need to hear.

    UPDATE

Also XCOM 2 pushed back to 2016. I'm fine with that, cos I don't have to juggle between that and Fallout 4 so much. "...extra love" is what Solomon describes as the reason to delay the game till next year.

  • So this is what Todd Howard was up to post Skyrim, which was inevitable, but it was a matter of when - 2015!.

    UPDATE

So November 10th 2015. Now its a matter of allocating precious time between XC2 and F4. Fuckin rad and terrible at the same time. Not to mention playing Fallout Shelter just before bed. This is fuckin rad and terrible at the same time.

  • I put down $270 to see a SINC art videogame. All I ask is they take their time and not make a piece of shit. Also Chunk Ragan. Only thing better is for HWM to tour Australia.

  • I still want to play it, but every time I know more about the narrative and see the new Dark Knight Rises/WB/Christopher Nolan design I shudder to think it'll be Arkham Origins. Where's Paul Dini?

    UPDATE

Watched another trailer. FARK! It looks more like a sequel to Arkham Origins than Arkham City. Is this a direct sequel or a 10 year down the line thing like Dark Knight Returns? Also WB big wig, Kevin Tsujihara, has come out saying DC is "edgier" "realistic" and "grounded" than Marvel. FARK THIS SHIT! It's all fiction!

Now I don't think I'll enjoy Batman now. If Dini is gone, the game looks more like Arkham Origins, parent company WB now want's more input on the game than Asylum or City. Last time that happened we got Origins. Prove me wrong Rocksteady.

    UPDATE

Proven right! HOT GARBAGE! I don't want to be proven right, I wanted to be wrong I wanted at least one trilogy game series not to end in a flaming trash heap of shit! (Mass Effect 3). Things were apparent that this was a port when the game didn't launch a Graphics and Control setup launcher like the previous two games. No multiple key combo input, lots of things that made the previous two important playing with the KB/M.

I upgraded my PC to play this game (16GB-RAM, GTX970), it performs poorly for the hardware 40FPS on normal settings, too many unnecessary FXs.

The story it self so far is a convoluted dramatic mess, way too be edgy WB. This really feels more like a sequel to Arkham Origins. The looks of the game I was already not too keen on and they've really gone for that edgy photo-realistic look over the stylistic one of the previous two.

The PC versions of the Rocksteady games have been pretty good out of the box, needing little to no fixes, because they were PC versions, not ports. Arkham Knight on the other hand is a port, its poorly optimised with inconsistent performance issues, also locked 30FPS out of the box. Now that's a port.

I'm surprised they released the PC version at the same time. Arkham City PC, was delayed a month so they could make a PC version and it worked out of the box, provided you turn off PhysX and DX11 too get 60+FPS on a 560ti. With the effects on you'd get about 30-40. Arkham Knight is as bad as Arkham Origins, parts are unplayable due to technical glitches or things just not working as they should.

What happened? From some of the best games of the last generation to the disappointment this is. I'll be surprised if they'll ever tell people what really happened rushing this out the door and trying to setup another game for WB Montreal to make.

  • Having met some of the developers and talked to them about the Witcher series, some of them agreed the combat in 2 sucked ass and needed to be changed again, something of a hybrid of the 1 and 2. That makes me excited. Too bad the story won't reflect my choices in Witcher 1.

Also I need to upgrade my PC.

    UPDATE

It's alright. The world is always grounded and political, which always makes the Witcher games a cut above the rest. The reality of war being nothing but murder and rape as opposed to V-Day celebrations - Top marks there. But combat still sucks ass but not as bad as 2, but its not fun that makes you feel like a badass. Where's my group strike?! Block and counter indicator isn't as quick as it should be. Not to mention invisible geometry to get snagged on during combat, how fun.

  • Sooner or later it'll be finished. So much style coming out the wazoo. Also it'd nice to have a Vita version too.

  • Looks like this might be my first physical game purchase of 2015.

    UPDATE

Well delayed again from late January to late March. That must mean Rockstar knows they have to polish the console shit off GTA V into a solid PC version like Max Payne 3, not some fuckin' port with dog shit controls and poor optimisation. Thank you. I'd like a product that works out of the box like the old days and not having to wait another fuckin month, soured on the game, waiting for patches that don't do anything. Looking at you EA and Ubisoft.

    UPDATE

LOL, Man I can't believe its been delayed again, from March to April - FARK! Seriously! This is getting old man. Hopefully this means less patches upon release.

    UPDATE

Installation sucked ass, 7 DVDs took 2.5 hrs and a 2 hr patch DL. After a drive died and a indecision over slow internet or busted drive, resulted in a installing an older driver that worked. All in all a total of 10 hrs to install a fucking game. Also the game isn't a out of the box experience. Lots of little bugs.

    UPDATE

The virtual microcosm is great, the insane horrible characters are amusingly to be around. The animation and voice work is top notch. Also its a PC Version not a PC Port. A distinct difference. They made this for the PC not just getting the console version to run on the PC, which was what Bully and GTA3, Vice City, San Andreas all terrible ports. Considering that Rockstar got it right with Max Payne 3, I'm not surprised. Top Marks!

  • Just tell me anything... anything at all.

  • It may not be a new original Rayman or BG&E2 but I still want to play it.

  • I like animation and video games is pretty much animation, but when a developer is planning to do hand drawn animations, god damn that's something to be seen.

  • If "Portland" by the Replacements ain't anywhere in the entire series, you've done fucked up. Maybe it'll be age thing, but alienation is not.

  • Ironically & coincidently another scifi dystopia game is already called Soma; set in space and having nothing to do with emotion controlling drugs (Brave New World). But I'm far more interested in games where you live a world of not fitting in. I will back any crowd funding for this darkhorse gem.

  • I gotta pre-order that triple LP edition. Also comes with Level Editor. Remember that scene from Pulp Fiction in the basement. Fuck do I care if the ACB want to ban this. I'll find another way to buy and play it. Yeah its illegal. Probably shouldn't say that.

  • Could this be the undying cursed incorporeal vampiric successor to White Wolf's Vampire Masquerade RPGs. I say yes? Cos Dark sucked blood from the ass, it was that janky.

  • Same thing I'll say every year till a release date; "I want to know."

  • Now this is a game I'd love to play in a portable (Vita) capacity, and soon realising it'd be a bad idea, being able to take an XCOM style turned based strategy wherever I go, not acknowledging the world around me, now I'm on holiday realising it was a mistake. I should've done the right thing and not brought the Vita with me. What was I thinking. Oh shit that last 6 hrs just disappeared. I hope I don't miss my flight ...and I just did. Thanks a lot Massive Chalice.

  • I want to know what's been done for the Vita version. I'd love to play it like a point and click with the touch screen and then find it annoying cos I can't see the screen cos of my stupid finger and then having to be forced to use the physical controls, praying they're not tank controls, finding out that they are and become really really pissed off and never touching it again. I hope that doesn't happen.

  • Hopefully by time this comes out, I'll have a new GPU. "It looks just like a Pixar movie!" derp

  • Elder Scrolls did some good things but I was never a fan of their first person melee combat. Hellraid looks to have more control and depth than just awkwardly swinging in a few directions.

  • I like to shot things and stuff. Now combine that with a post-modern retrospective of the genre of FPS and shooters and you have Bedlam.

  • Remember when all three cameout at once.

  • Enslaved was dogshit on the PC; controls, settings etc. DMC was better, but not by much,m the KB/M controls sucked ass, combat would be so much faster and precise if the mouse the controlled direction thus the camera instead all you can do is pan a camera around. I know you guys have learnt some things and I know you'll get it right this time. Am I Right?

  • I like Betty Boop & Bimbo and Felix the Cat, most of that early Fleischer animation that's subversively unsettling.

  • Turn based story driven squad action. What would a co-op game like this be like? Maybe one day someone will make one. And isn't that just D&D. Must take days just to finish a single round.
