@slashdance: I'll try to explain the "circle jerk of hate" that follows Phil Fish. It's because in the ranks of game designers, he's a nobody sky rocketed to fame, and totally unable to be humble regarding his new found success. News flash he made one game, and he then proceeds to run his mouth off about everything he hates about the video game industry, from developers, journalists, and players, then proceeds to get defensive when anyone attempts to call him out on it. As an example for the same implosion in another medium look up the rise and fall of Troy Duffy director of Boondock Saints and see if anything he did reminds you of Mr. Fish. Phil Fish's downfall is less about what he said and more about the fact that as a relatively new player in the game industry he honestly didn't have the clout to say it.

@ramone: Note: It's okay to tell the world to suck your D after winning an award. It's not okay to call said person a hipster. Got it.

@ekami: So if I'm getting this straight because I don't agree with what he says, and how he acts, but he hasn't offended me personally I should want to give him my money? Also be well aware trying to dismiss my personal opinion of Phil by implying I'm "taking on other peoples grievances like some kind of pain sponge?" is silly seeing as I never addressed you or your motives in posting in my reply. I have the right to not support someone who's views I don't respect or agree with, just as I have the right to voice my reason for my views. As I have said before I liked FEZ I don't like Phil Fish, if he waffles on this and FEZ 2 is released rest assured I won't be giving him my money.

@ramone: Yep because Phil has been level headed voice of reason regarding his depiction in the media. He's never done anything that would spark the ire or contempt of other people. It's a two way street you give respect to get it and for the most part Phil Fish has been disrespectful to both the audience who buys his games, games as a whole and to the video game journalism industry. Don't give what you can't take, and if the reply is he shouldn't get flak for giving his opinion then don't put said opinion out on a public forum to be criticized, and if you do then don't be shocked when everyone doesn't agree with you, they have opinion's too. Just because he's famous for making one game doesn't make his opinion more valid.

@ekami: It has to do with respect, Phil Fish has constantly shown disrespect for the audience that purchases his product. And I as a consumer have the option to say no I won't buy your product and here's why. Just because you pour your heart into something doesn't give you to right to be a jerk to the people who are necessary for that venture to flourish. Also while I shouldn't have to justify my opinion by stating this I will. Yes I bought FEZ way before the egonato that was Phil Fish, and yes I enjoyed my time with it, but I also regret it for feeding the ego of someone I wouldn't give the time of day for in real life.

@bacongames: Oh hey look Phil's being a jerk but it's okay because he's the third coming of indie development. This is the bizarre double standard that he seems to live by that has always bothered me about the man. Fez was brilliant yes, but that doesn't mean I have to respect Phil Fish as a person or his opinion on anything.

My feeling on Fish has always been such. The reason the man gets as much flack as he dose is because he's green in the industry he's made one game which was a critical darling, and using his new indie status starts bad mouthing the industry in which he works. Games are personal and when you insult them you insult the people who like them no different then books or films.

My personal issue with Phil Fish is the fact that he honestly has no real clout in the game industry, he's made one brilliant game, spouts off his options as if they were fact, and then gets really upset when people call him out on BS or don't agree with him. Phil constantly thinks he's the smartest person in the room, but I suspect this much if a major publisher gave him a two million budget he'd crack under the pressure, just look at how he reacted to this situation. He want's to take potshots at the industry without having the ability or raw talent to do what the big developers attempt to do (IE put multi millions on the line) and the minute anyone shines a light on his hypocrisy he turtles up and throws a tantrum.

On the subject of Quick Time Events, I have to look back to earlier this year and parrot something a few of guys on the bombstaff mentioned about DmC. The lack of QTE's in it especially three sequences which I won't mention because of their some what spoilerish nature. However I noticed the game's almost deliberate non-use of them pretty early on, something that I found rather refreshing over the course of my time with it, and a point that I didn't find that many people commenting on considering the fact that they seem to be so reviled by the gaming community at the moment.

@bonbolapti: I'm fascinated by why you say that? I actually found her to be the best written character in the game. Granted she doesn't have much of an arc but to say that she's badly written and sets women back is a bit much.
