Started reading Naked Lunch again. Wonder if 10 years older version of me will enjoy it as much as I used to.

Were people upset at the rural religious cult in Resident Evil 4?

Nope not at all, but they also weren't "Americans", which seems to be the big deal here.

Let the game be the game - it'll probably be real good regardless of what people are calling "Anti-Americanism" lol. Personally, AS AN AMERICAN, I think it's great that they're bringing FarCry to the US instead of places I'd likely never see. It's a fictitious story, as I'm sure they'll inform you at the opening of the game, so quit whining and bring it on!

Additionally - Their marketing is clearly working to heighten conversation, whether it be for good or bad.

Yes people in Spain were offended. I remember reading articles that RE4 paint rural Spain in negative light as backwards place with crazy sects na people without toilets.

@mister_v: I mean, unless this key-art is some Kojima-level misdirection and the villains are actually Russians or something, casting white Americans as the bad guys is not especially common in gaming or mainstream pop culture in general and a pretty noteworthy occurrence if a AAA developer does it. Whether or not its actual story does anything interesting with the subject is another matter entirely but just by making this choice it starts a pretty interesting broader conversation.

"redneck" Christians bad guys are super common trope in movies

Morrowind should be playable with all the graphics mods that were released on PC. Its my favorite of the bunch so I may be biased towards the rest but Daggerfall and Arena would be nightmare to play in 2017 without nostalgia factor. They feel just too janky.

Started pretty strong with Magneto but then became unbearable mess and action scenes were boring. I was really disappointed because the previous entries in the series were somewhere between good and really good. This one was ok at best.

If they made another one I would wait for the VoD release.

@danteveli: To be fair that low brow cheap vibe can be seen in a lot of horror/slasher flicks, i'm not saying that makes it better but the shock value 'extremeness' is a trope of the genre and to be expected in a game like this, especially if you played the original. I played the first one because of PS+ and I dont see myself playing the sequel unless it's really cheap or free.

(also I got one of my posts deleted for a less graphic gif, so be warned mods might come gunning for you! ;p)

You can do extreme stuff in the right way and make it scary but when they throw you the same stuff every 10 seconds and accompany it with swearing it just gets old and boring. There are literally thousand bodies scattered around the village. Each one is mangled and so on. Its go over the top the way it makes into the realm of Mortal Kombat with PS2 games where the gore is just silly. This is why i have seen it labeled as gorn (not the Star Trek but gore porn). It tries too hard to be edgy and that lessens the whole experience.

Its disappointing/bad. Playing Outlast 2 feels like standing next obnoxious yelling how extreme he is and how he rapes corpses, gets girls pregnant and rip babies from their womb and how he kills people for the pleasure and to praise sun or something. You can go wow that is effed up. But after a while of hearing it you go like how much s#it can he say. And the I'm extreme spiel does not stop. Its sad because there are elements of the story that could be really good. Sadly it leans too heavy on the gore angle and psychological horror copied from Silent Hill is tacked on.

Other than that its standard fare YouTube scare made for some semi-famous people to scream in front of their camera. AI is bugged and enemies de-spawn like crazy. It kills all the tension. Same goes for running around sections that are majority of the game. Its not scary at all and the jump scares are lame.

In my opinion its worst of the three because it was made to be consumed as another crappy gorn to make bucks out of PewDiePie and the rest.

@selvar: I would love to be able to do shit those nights. You could get so much more done. I've beat every dungeon as fast as the game would allow (basically one day for the entire dungeon slog) and that left me with literal weeks of zero main story development, and it was fantastic. Just weeks of hanging around with people and learning their stories. The most main story you get during that downtime are the group chats that say basically the exact same thing over and over.

I understand why they keep it moving, but they could've just faded it to black when you "went home", let you save, then faded in during the day change screen, instead of loading you into a room and be unable to do anything except start another loading screen. I feel like I remember P4 doing the fade thing? It's been a while so I'm not sure. I do remember being "too tired" to do stuff, but that seemed almost exclusively set for after you leave the TV and like, field trips and stuff that made sense. But again, it's been a while so I can't be 100% sure on it.

Definitely looking forward to NG+ though, since I won't have to waste so much damn time raising stats. That alone should free up enough time to easily get all the Confidants done. I'm pretty high with the majority of them now and have 5 or 6 maxed out, but there's 4 or so that haven't even started. Also I didn't figure out the whole gifts thing for a long time.

That part with throwing you back in room makes sense because you can do tv quiz, care for your plant plus there is later part where you can regain strength after visiting dungeon and do other activity.

Nah Makoto and Futaba are way worse than him. he is just normal dude and thing like teenage kid in his situation. Fame, money and girls are the things that would be on mind of most people in his shoes.
