It isn't just that the ending is so bad. It's that EA went so far in the resulting aftermath. If they had just said "yeah, that is fucking horrible, our bad" and took one to the chin, it undoubtedly would not have gone over as badly as it did.
Imagine the precedent that would have set. Every company would have to cave to fans demands about every game because there is no way you're going to satisfy everyone who plays the game. It won't matter if its only a vocal minority either. How would the developer feel if their publisher throws them under the bus because some players weren't entirely happy with the game? Why would they ever want to work with that pub again if thats how they're going to be treated? You have to stand by the game you put out and by the people who made the game. You can't dismiss the game and the creators because people complain.
As for ME3 and GOTY of the year discussions, I don't see how they won't talk about it. I don't know what its chances are of ending up on any lists, but its one of the biggest games of the year and one of the most decisive. Just ignoring it would be crazy.
Yes, because Bethesda retconning their original shitty ending that made no fucking sense in FO3 ruined the game industry.
