Top Ten Games of 2009

Remember that this list is ordered by my preferences, not necessarily by quality.

List items

  • This game is one of my all-time favorites. I've never played a game with such engaging characters and memorable dialogue. It's beautiful, action-packed, funny, and something anyone can enjoy playing or just watching. I played the campaign 4 times and played too much of its multiplayer for my own good.

  • One of my favorite games + 2 awesome sequels = AMAZING. The Wii control scheme is my favorite way to play the Prime games. Prime 1 is the best, followed by the very hard Echoes. Corruption is great, but doesn't completely capture the essence of the previous games. All in all, it's a fantastic package.

  • The best Ratchet and Clank game and simply one of the most fun 3D platformers available.

  • Great level design and a good difficulty make New Super Mario Bros. Wii a winner. I wish I spent some more time with the multiplayer, which I found very fun.

  • This game is so weird... AND AWESOME.

  • I love inFAMOUS's powerful story and its awesome firefights. The variety of missions on hand were very satisfying, especially with a near-perfect difficulty.

  • This game may not connect to me on the same level as Paper Mario, but it's still an accessible and funny RPG. The concept is super cool, and the giant Bowser battles are so awesome!

  • Flower, though short, is really special to me. It's just so mesmerizing and beautiful. I love going back to levels again and again just to take in the sights and sounds.

  • A similar experience to the Curious Village is no bad thing when it includes excellent puzzles, a great story, and awesome visuals and cutscenes. The biggest improvement in the Diabolical Box is the game's soundtrack!

  • A huge improvement over Wii Sports, and it shows that the WiiMotion Plus has a lot of potential. I especially loved flying around the island, table tennis, and swordplay.
