NegativeCero

On the PC my friend :), so I'm basically going on with my everyday routine, with it running in the background. I only shut it off the play Crysis 2, since I don't want to strain my CPU too much...

DeeGee
Yeah, I got that. If I'd known it at the time I'd probably go on playing the game (which sucked until that point), but no matter. No real lose...

I say I want to experience it first hand, on my PC while I play (and so I can record it and post it as a Game Ending video).

@Abyssfull

Again, looking it up on the Internet is for little girls... I realize I'm not the first one to do so, since the game was out of quite some time now, but whatever... I post every ending of every game I finish (over 400 now), and that's one of them...

Old news if you played the game... The minute I saw the countdown I saved the game and just stopped playing and left it on to see what happens. I never check the internet for spoilers on what lies ahead, so if the clock jumps forward at some point, then I guess I could have been playing the game instead of Crysis 2, but no matter. I still want to see it first hand.

I don't check the internet for spoilers to a game I've yet to play...

Those of you who played Mass Effect 2's latest DLC "Arrival" possibly noticed the huge countdown clock welcoming you to the research station-thing right as Sheperd exits the shuttle.
The countdown begins at around 2 days+ and is counting down in real time towards something (not going to spoils towards what).

So if you're like me, your curious to see what the hell happens once the countdown winds down (looking it up on the Internet is for little girls!), and if you are REALLY like me you left the game on for 2 day straight... In about 20 hours I'll witness first hand what the hell happens when it reaches zero, and I'm going to post the result here on my profile (assuming something actually happens).

So, hmm... Stay tuned?

So basically they took SD and removed to of the spider-men? I did enjoy playing with 2099 Spider-man the best, but still... doesn't look like EoT will offer anything new... it even looks just like SD...

Killzone 2's ending was absolutely, mind-bogglingly awful. Killzone 3's ending had problems, but nothing tops Rico's "whoopsie, I made a boo-boo and the entire point of the fight has gone down-the-drain" had me gritting my teeth the whole way through.

I just finished playing Killzone 2, and I felt about the same way. It was actually a cliffhanger ending that didn't bother me so much, but I just wanted to shoot Rico is his stupid fat face through most of the game. Hell, I was rooting for the Helghast by the time I reached the end... Killzone 2's ending just made me want to play Killzone 3 (which is a big thing, after the annoyance Killzone 2 was).

@PhatSeeJay: I totally agree with you. The Saboteur was a nice game with a great ending. The end song gave me chills and made me smile all at the same time (the dialog was a bit clichéd, but not too much).

@FancySoapsMan:
 Agree with the first statement. It's not only in endings they try to do that. I just finished Killzone 2 (I only recently got my hands on a PS3) and it really bothered me the game tried to make me sad by the fact that one of my teammates died in battle, when only moments ago I single handedly killed hundreds of enemy soldiers. No one seemed to be sad for them...

I've being extremely fascinated by video game endings for the last few years now, ever since I played Jericho and saw its atrocious ending. Ever since I've being uploading to my Gamespot profile (I would do the same here, but I can't seem to find a way of uploading videos to my profile) hundreds of game ending videos, for basically each game I've played (and some I didn't). Its just a thing I do...
Anyways, I've being wondering to myself what others might think of some of the trends I've noticed over the years, especially two that are the most common, and in my opinion, the most annoying: the "Cliffhanger" ending and the "WTF" ending.

While Cliffhanger can sometimes be good enough and well produced enough for us to enjoy (see Beyond good and EvilAssassin's Creed or Dreamfall), I find them to be less than satisfyingly. To me it seems like they are just there to ensure the survival of the franchise and to make the fans demeaned a sequel. Good games can do that without using such a cheap trick simply by being, well, good... I think most of us here have encounter one or two (or ten or a fifty) Cliffhangers in our lifetime, so I gues I'm not really telling you something new, but I'd still like to hear some thoughts on the subject.

The other trend, the "WTF" ending, is the worst offender. These are the endings that come out of nowhere and offer no kind of closure or satisfaction, let alone a sense of accomplishment. They are a sub-genre of the Cliffhanger ending, but without all that wonderful suspense we get out of it (I'm looking at you Kane & Lynch 2).  T here are some rare occasions that a "WTF" ending is appropriate, and is even the best way of ending a game, mostly through humor (see Duke Nukem 3D  or the Dog ending form Silent Hill 2 ) but I still think there is little to no excuse ending any game so abruptly. In my opinion it just a symptom of a poorly designed game...

So what are your thoughts about recent video game endings? any favorites? any least favorites? have you noticed anything you think is worth sharing (about game endings, of course)? I'd really like to hear it.

" I played all 3 games. Start from Shadow of Chernobyl and move on to Clear Sky. I didn't like Call if Pripyat, so if I were you I'd wait after playing the two other games and decide then if I want to keep on to the third. "
however, most people hate clear sky and love call of pripyat. Why did you like clear sky and not Pripyat? "
I though Clear Sky was more like Shadow of Chernobyl then Call of Pripyat was. It had great atmosphere and firefights, and the bugs didn't bother me too much. I never finished COP, since it was too boring, and a bit too linear.
In my opinion: SoC>CS>CoP
One should definitely play SoC, the others are only if you really really like this sort of games and the settings.
