Just finished my arcade stick!!!!

Check it out giant bombers! I just finished making my arcade stick. What started out as a Mad Catz WWE Brawl Stick has now become my own pride and joy! Sorry for the bad quality of my arcade stick pics, they were taken with my Vita. It didn't end up being all that expensive either. I got the Brawl Stick on sale at Amazon which greatly reduced the cost, got the artwork printed at kinkos, and the sanwa buttons and stick from ebay. In total, with prices rounded to the nearest dollar, shipping included, the prices were:

Brawl Stick: $48

Lami-Label: $4

6 Sanwa Buttons: $24

Sanwa Stick: $27

Total: $103

.

Wow those Vita images are really washed out! I decided to just include the original print as well at the end there for you to see.

So what do you giant bomber think of my arcade stick? Have you ever made one or thought of making one? If so show it off in the comments below!

That's pretty baller.

I've got a few questions about the construction:

  • Did you just layer the new artwork over the top of the WWE image or did the WWE thing just peel right off?
  • And do you think there's a chance you'd ruin the area around the buttons or stick with heavy use or is the lami-label or whatevs sturdy enough?

Nice! I picked up a Hori Real Arcade 3 one a while ago and have been wanting to put some artwork on it to make it my own. They're terribly boring aesthetically. Great functionality, but still ugly. Haha

No I took it off. I had read on some websites to do it this way and I can see why. The stickers are actually pretty thick and if you layered one on top of the other would be too it thick an buttons wouldn't fit properly. That said with the original artwork it should just peel off after starting from a corner. After you remove it there will be some sticky residue as well as parts of the original artwork left on the faceplate. Just get rid of it with some rubbing alcohol and some patience. Let it dry then put your art on top.

The lami-label seems sturdy enough. I'll report back later to say for sure but the thing is pretty damn sticky, it's probably going to be harder to peel off then the original brawl stick if I ever decide to change the art again.

Word of advice though, be careful with the buttons. I was having trouble taking some out and I actually ended up breaking one of the original brawl stick buttons while taking it out. Also be careful when pulling the wires when unplugging the buttons for the first time. You will need to use quite a bit of force the first time. Other then that I have to say the rest is cake!
