Honestly, I don't think it's a good fit. I don't think Nintendo and Apple are that similar - Nintendo's strength isn't it's styling, it's nostalgia, strong intellectual properties, and wide consumer appeal.
If anything, I think Nintendo and Apple would be the most natural competitors if Apple entered the video game market. After all, I assume that Apple would target the same broad "casual gamer" market that Nintendo has done so well in. I believe that Apple will focus on the iPhone and try parlay that into the preeminent portable gaming device and leave consoles alone for now.
I doubt there will be any big entries into the gaming hardware market in the current economy. It costs a lot of money and the competition is already savage, making it a money-losing proposition.
The main character has an annoying face, but I'm still really looking forward to this. Obsidian deserves more credit than they get. Hopefully, having a game based on their own IP will help boost their standing.
I think that KOTOR I was so beloved because it delivered the Star Wars experience fans had always wanted, in addition to being a great RPG. Also, the twist at the end FEELS like a classic Star Wars twist, on par with the big reveal of Darth Vader being Luke's father.
The hate for KOTOR II is generally about its unfinished state and very confusing end game. Of course, this wasn't Obsidian's fault, but Lucasarts, who wanted to rush the game to the shelves. I personally think KOTOR II is more satisifying on many levels than KOTOR I, though I do think KOTOR I is a classic, where KOTOR II is not.
It's too bad that Obsidian has garnered a reputation as a second-string RPG maker behind Bethesda and Bioware. I honestly think they're on par with those developers, but problems with KOTOR II and NWN2 have earned them a lot of gamer ire.
The only thing that really annoyed me was the whole "Bioware is dorky" comment. Not that I'm overtly attached to Bioware, I just think calling other video games/video game genres dorky is ridiculous. Do you play video games? If so, enjoy your dorkiness. To claim that some genres/games are inherently cool while others are inherently dorky smacks of desperation. Just play what you like and move on.
Though I will say her delivery left much to be desired. If you want to be incendiary, that's cool, but don't talk over others and learn to use your inside voice for the sanity of your listeners.
