The Wii U is an Excellent Console, that everybody should own.

I have owned a Wii U since christmas 2012, and so far I can say without a shadow of a doubt It is the most promising console I have ever owned. It feels so dynamic and fluid the gamepad is amazing. The ability to watch youtube on the TV whilst you browse around looking for quick looks to watch is awesome. And I will mention the incredible graphics, playing Nintendo franchises in true HD feels awesome, I can only imagine the brilliance of upcoming titles such as Zelda and Mario Kart. I am saddened by the fact that this console is not meeting its sales targets, as far as im concerned everybody should own one of these beauties. Go buy a Wii U now dude!

P.S I am new to the site, I love everything GiantBomb is doing, The staff here feel like the last true gamers. The passion they show for gaming is unrivaled anywhere else in the videogame journalism community. GiantBomb you are the best. I hope to be a long lasting member of this community.

I fucked up this post entirely and I have clearly not made a good first impression lol I bid you all a good day.

Welcome to Giant Bomb. I agree the Wii U is very interesting and it will be fun to see the future of the system.

OK, Mr Nintendo executive, you've sold me. Hell, why buy one?? I'mma buy ten of these HD beauties! One for me and the other for my friends so we can play Mario Kart together!

Odd. Second thread in a couple of days that talks about how great the WiiU is?

I have a WiiU. People rag on the Vita about having no games but this is far worse. Other than a port of the Wii version of Monster Hunter there has been like absolutely nothing released for it since around launch.

ZombiU was and still is the best thing on the system and it's a shame because the game bugged out for me and I was never able to beat it (literally unplayable). So my experience was pretty soured from the start.

I'll buy one once that SMT/FE crossover comes out.

April fools was yesterday, dawg.

I tried to win one for $100 on ebay but once the bidding got to $132 I decided it wasn't worth it haha

I would rather take the money to buy a Wii U and buy something like a new pair of hard drives or a new(er) card for computer. Or a new phone. Or anything....

That made me laugh waaaaaaaaaaaay harder than it should have.

In any case, OP, I'm glad you like the WiiU. I don't hate it per se, but it's kinda meh for me at the moment. There are a few games here and there that look interesting, but nothing that really wows me. Well, that new game by the Xenoblade guys looked pretty cool, but I don't recall hearing anything about it since they showed that trailer or whatever. The only thing I can think of that would really make me go "holy shit, I need to buy one of these" is a new Metroid and at least a small price drop.

Decrease the price and increase the library and I'll start considering it.

I'm hopeful that the Wii U will blossom in the years to come.

BUT, as you said, the system has promise - will Nintendo capitalize on this?

Yeah, about that...no.

The Wii U looks like it has some great stuff going for it, but I just don't think you can say everyone needs one of these. I find myself not buying a Wii U because while Bayonetta 2 and Pikmin 3 are games I really want, there aren't a whole ton of other games on that system that appeal to me, that aren't appearing on other systems. I'm sure all the Mario Kart and the Zelda and the Mario is well-made, but I've played those games over and over before, I don't think I want to play them again unless there are some serious changes.

And just what am I going to play on it? Mario Kart, Zelda, and Monster Hunter don't sell me on it.

Jeff Gerstmann is, "The Last True Gamer". Coming to a theater near you.

I'll borrow one when the one good Nintendo game comes out, if ever.

Love the controller, not real sure about the box it's attached to.

Hopefully FE x SMT and the new Xenoblade show up before 2015.

3 hour battery life controller.

How about no.

So a major selling point is something I can already do with my pc/360/ps3 and an ipad?

Hey man, you posted this a day late!

I have no interest in watching YouTube on my TV. Besides, I can do that with my 360, my Apple TV, and even my Blu Ray player. The only games that (mildly) interest me are New Super Mario Bros. U and ZombiU. I see no reason for owning a Wii U.

Edited by Humanity

I'm sure it's swell but it has no games that interest me.

Posted by JasonR86

Nah, I'm good.

Edited by Canteu

What about people like me, who actively dislike almost the entirety of Nintendo's first party catalogue?

I guess I should own it too yes?

Posted by ArbitraryWater

Other than ZombiU and possibly Monster Hunter, I still can't name an exclusive for that console that would grab me in any significant way for any significant length of time. Oh, don't get me wrong, I will inevitably, inadvertently get one over the course of its life cycle, but only for the dozen or so exclusives worth playing, and certainly not for the $350 asking price. Will they finally make a Zelda game that will make me do more than shrug? Will they do some crazy shit with the gamepad for the inevitable Mario Party 10? Will Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem be totally weird? All of these questions... probably won't have answers for a while. When they do, ask me again.

This feels oddly markety feeling. I really like the Wii U too but I wouldn't recommend it to everybody. It also needs more games and more refinement in general.

Honestly I want to save my money for a gaming PC, but if the Wii U can get some games released such as a new Smash Bros, a new F-Zero and a new Mario Galaxy styled game, I might consider getting one.

Anyways, welcome to the site!
