Wow. Props to Johnny Yong Bosch, he managed to alter his original take on Adachi without straying too far out of character, while also avoiding stepping too much on his portrayal of Charlie. Skillful work.

I wonder... presumably he had to record new lines for Adachi for Golden. I wonder if he'll keep his original interpretation for that stuff or go with this new one.

The only reasons I can possibly imagine would be licensing or royalties.

That said, we don't know how much Sony charges publishers for PSN listings. It's possible that Konami, in all their infinite wisdom, doesn't see the upside to it if that figure is too high. Especially if not enough people bought the original Suikoden when it went up on PSN.

...probably still more likely that we'll get Suikoden II eventually than any of the PS2 sequels.

Yes. I started with PSIV, was obsessed with it, and gradually worked my way backwards. Then forwards again.

The connections are definitely there - there's even a brilliant nod to PSIII, which was almost entirely removed from the rest of the series - but nothing that would confuse a player who starts with PSIV. Also, PSIV is by far the most accessible and polished of the original series, and the best game of the four partially for that reason. It's easily one of the two or three best RPGs of the 16-bit generation, so if trying to play I - III first puts you off the experience of IV, I'd say forget about the earlier games entirely.

PSIV needs to be experienced; the rest I consider wholly optional.

I'd prefer to pay the extra 10% for a physical copy. Crazy, right?

Well, someday it'll seem crazy, y'know, when I move again. Uggggh.

Actually why don't you just put up videos of you playing STO? Let people see what the recent changes in the game are actually like.

This.

Bonus points to Studio Liverpool if they give Cold Storage a big chunk of the soundtrack work. That would make it feel a lot like the first game, at least to me since I only ever played the Saturn version.

Alright Konami, you win. Here's my damn wallet. But I'll have you know that if only you had included the PS2 Suikoden games in this HD remastering plan, you could've had my firstborn child as well.

It's worth noting that last spring, Perfect World bought Runic Games.  So now they have two relatively well known north american companies making MMOs (well, the Torchlight MMO isn't in full development yet, but it's coming).  Maybe they want to be the next NCSoft.  And from what I can tell with Runic, they get a pretty large amount of freedom.
This.

That last sentence is the most important part to consider, yet keeps flying well over the heads of way too many users on the STO and CO official forums. Apparently, they're all too busy flailing about with fears of gold farming and free-to-play cash store shenanigans to bother reading that far into Perfect World's US holdings, or even realize how badly Atari themselves have been mismanaging things. Star Trek Online in particular would've launched in far better shape had Atari not rushed it out of the gate.

Vita, huh. I'd expect to see that on a yogurt carton. Will the PS Vita come with extra probiotic cultures in all SKUs or just the most expensive one?
