Have you heard this joke before? Stop me if you have... ok.. here goes... 4 foreigners walk into the GOM Studio and... I know its wrong to joke about it, but Fenix, Nani, Thorzain, and Jinro all were eliminated from Code A and must qualify again. If you win your Ro16 match you get a spot in the Up and Down match, if not, enjoy Code A for another season and see if your team can send you to MLG. Monday morning, the Ro8 for Code A will take place and here are your matches!!

  • GanZi vs. Check
  • JYP vs. TaeJa
  • YoDa vs. Leenock
  • Jjakji vs. MKP

You'll notice that DRG isn't there, he won his first game, tried a six pool, almost came back from it, then in the third set, fast expand to gold... yeah... he will be at MLG next week. Remember that the winner of Code A gets a spot in Code S no matter what.

Since HuK was in America for the B.net invite, his group was put on hold till Tuesday morning. This week will have 3 groups in Code S play. Groups C, E and F. Groups G and H will take place Wed morning. Group D was a bit of a shock. NaDa 2-0, Keen 2-1, CoCa 1-2 and Alicia 0-2. Nothing else really to report here, I'll have the MLG invites at the end of the update.

TEAM LEAGUE!!! OMG OMG OMG... F. United won.. .they won... holy balls THORZAIN is a baller!! Almost getting the all kill on MVP, lost to Genius on match point, Genius beat Soccer, then Nani came in to clean it up. WOW! TSL secured their spot for the playoffs with a solid win over oGsTL. There was a shake up in the standings over in Group B. FXOKorea (fOu) took out ZeNEX. I can't believe i'm typing this but... ummm.. thebest closed it out taking out Puzzle, Line and CoCa. Yeah, thebest... bad banshee control and all.

Standing Update!!!

Group A

  1. Team SCV Life 3-0 (12-4)
  2. MVP 2-1 (11-10)

Three weeks are left, the 3 and 4 in both groups could switch around, with F. United playing 4 times in the next 3 weeks.

The invites were announced this week for MLG Raleigh. Coming over on invite are, NaDa, CoCa, Bomber and Tester. DRG will be back looking for his revenge and that Code S spot and Rain will be making a return. DRG and Rain are coming over on their own. They have enough points to be placed in pools with out having to fight through the open bracket. djWheat will be attending PAX Prime that weekend, so H to the usky, Husky will be joining Day 9 on the Blue Stream and the Archon will be back in Raleigh taking over the Red Stream. JP will be doing the interviews on stage.

Keep your liquibets up!!!! See ya next time!!

Hey, I know this is late but, GSL August Code A and S! *SPOILERS*

Its August, kids are going back to school and the GSL is starting to hit its stride! For the first time GOM streamed the Code A Qualifiers, over two days, 10+ hours of streaming each day, Star Fox 64, and lots of trolling of John the Translator. When it was all said and done, 13 people won their 32 man bracket and got the Code A seat. TaeJa, Hack, Maka, JYP, Sniper, TheBest, GanZi, Extreme, Maru, DRG, Lucky, Jjakji, and BoxeR. Just like last season, the first week is Ro32 for Code A everyday. Here are the results from the first two days of play. Winners in bold!!

  • FruitDealer vs. Maru
  • vanvanth vs. Ganzi
  • sC vs. Extreme
  • Tails vs TaeJa
  • DongRaeGu vs. InCa
  • Tassadar vs Fenix
  • YoDa vs TheBest
  • Leenock vs BoxeR
  • Dream vs Maka
  • Luvsic vs Jjakji
  • MarineKing vs Hack

Everyone who makes it into the Ro16 stays in Code A for another season.Last set of Ro32 games are tonight. It will be Foreigner day, Nani, Jinro, ThorZaIN, and SaSe will be playing to stay alive for one more season.

Code S started off with a bang! Here is the overview of the groups for this season.

NesTea went 2-1 to advance, Happy 1-2 to stay in Code S and Kyrix goes to the Up and Down. Group B... yeah... MC is in the Up and Down. Dropping the first set to MVP and and losing to Noblesse. MVP and Optimus advance to Ro16, and Noblesse stays in Code S. Tomorrow morning is only one group of Code S due to HuK being away for the NA Battle.net invite. So Group C *CoCa, Keen, NaDa and Alicia* will play tonight.

Team League update! The kings of the past two team league seasons have fallen! Sadly SlayerS have fallen to 0-3 (7-12), only hope for them to have a shot at the playoffs would be oGsTL, Prime and F.United to lose the rest of the season by all kills and SlayerS to win the last two matches by an all kill. Among all the controversy TSL returns this week vs oGsTL and F. United makes their debut against MVP. Don't bet against them, BELIEVE IN DRG. In Group B, HoSeo has a firm hold on first place 3-0 (12-4) and StarTale is behind them with a 3-1 (14-10). This week IM makes their return to try and make up for that QXC all kill as they play StarTale.

Here is the group overview and remember that top three from each group will make it to the playoffs.

Group A

  1. Team SCV Life 2-0 (8-3)
  2. MVP 2-0 (8-6)
  3. oGsTL 1-1 (7-7)

  5. For Our Utopia or FXOKorea 1-2 (8-9)
  6. FXO 1-4 (8-16)

Remember keep up on your LiquiBets and if you have a fantasy team make the trades to get ready for F. United!!

See ya next week!

What a week it has been! GSL & GSTL Update (SPOILERS)

Wow, its has been a crazy week. Puma left TSL to join EG, Sheth leaves FXO, and QXC all killed IM! All is lost, the world is coming to an end soon, cats are sleeping with dogs, and vampire nerds are runnin wild.

Code A finals were last Monday, congratulations to Puzzle who will have a seat in Code S August.

Round of 8 in Code S was kinda nuts. NesTea made it look easy, smashing CoCa 3-0, and those games took less then 35 min *StarCraft 2 time*. HongUn took out the Kratos Protoss, in a shocking 3-1. The Liquibet match up was 134 for HongUn and 8887 for MC and a whole lotta nerds cried at the end of that match up. LosirA took out Trickster 3-2, after Trickster showed some very interesting builds. Bomber broke the hearts of nerds everywhere losing to Byun 3-2. Bomber had a 2-0 lead and proceeded to drop the last three games MKP style. So, Monday, NesTea vs. HongUn and Byun vs. Losira. Could we see an IM vs IM in the finals?

Up and Down groups were drawn and they are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Group A

  • MKP
  • FruitDealer
  • Ryung
  • Dream
  • Happy

Group B

  • anypro
  • sC
  • Tassadar
  • asd
  • Noblesse

Group C

  • aLive
  • InCa
  • Keen
  • Leenock
  • vanvanth

Everyone plays everyone in round robin fashion. Top two from each group will move into Code S, everyone else back to A.

In GSTL news, QXC all-killed IM, to help give FXO their first win before they head back home. HuK clutched out two wins for oGs-TL to get them the win over Prime.

oGs-TL 4 - Prime 3

FXO 4 - IM 0

StarTale 2 - NSHeoSo 4

Team Standings

Group A

  1. Team SCV Life 2-0 (8-3 +5)
  2. MVP 2-0 (8-6 +2)
  3. oGsTL 1-1 (7-7 0)
  4. F. United 0-0 (0-0)
  5. SlayerS 0-2 (5-8 -3)
  6. Prime 0-2 (4-8 -4)

Group B

  1. HoSeo 3-0 (12-4 +8)
  2. StarTale 2-1 (10-9 +1)
  3. IM 2-1 (8-9 -1)
  4. ZeNEX 1-2 (9-8 +1)
  5. fOu 1-2 (8-9 -1)
  6. FXO 1-4 (8-16 -8)

So next week, no team league, Monday is Code S Ro4, Up and Down matches are Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. MLG Anaheim starts on Friday, GSL Code S finals are Saturday and Championship Sunday is on... Sunday.

Its Round of 8 in Code A and Group still in Code S (SPOILERS)

Only two weeks in to GSL July and there is a lot to talk about. Code A is already in the round of 8 and 4 groups have been decided in Code S. Six teams have played in the Team League.

The remaining in Code A are Dream, Leenock, Noblesse, Tassadar, vanvanth, Puzzle, Happy and asd. Sheth and Jinro made it to the Round of 16, keeping their spot in Code A for August. Boxer and MMA must fight through the qualifier tournament to get back in.

In Code S NesTea, Trickster, Clide, Ensnare, Genius, TOP, Losira, and CoCa have their place in the round of 16 locked up. July, Violet, Virus, and Alicia will stay in Code S and Rain, anypro, FruitDealer and MarineKing are going to the up and down matches. They haven't said yet how Rain will work into this whole situation because he has been suspended until October because he declined to go to the Group Nomination for July.

In the Team League, TSL, MVP, ZeNEX, HoSeo and StarTale are all 1-0. SlayerS, Prime, and IM are 0-1. Sadly FXO is 0-2 and fOu joins them in the bottom of Group B. Two all kills so far this season, ZeNEX_Hack and NSHoSeo_Sage.

Round of 8 for Code A is on Monday, the final 4 groups will be played over Tuesday and Wednesday. MVP vs oGs is on Thrusday and Friday is FXopen vs New Star HoSeo and IM vs ZeNEX.

Remember to keep your liquibets up to date and if you have a team in the fantasy league, make sure to keep updated on that!

Some great games coming up soon and MLG Anaheim is less then 30 days away. Boxer is coming...

There can be only one! GSL Super Tournament Finals!

After a month of the top 64 players in the GSL playing down to the final two, MMA and Polt are the last to remain. After two amazing semi-finals games, any of those for players combined could have made a great finals, and MMA vs Polt can provide the GSL finals that we have needed.

The map pool has been released, here it is with the players Win/Loss attached.

MMA Polt

1-0 <Bel'Shir Beach> 1-0

0-1 <Metalopolis> 1-1

1-1 <Crossfire SE> 1-1

1-1 <Dual Sight> 2-0

1-1 <Terminus SE> 1-0

3-0 <Xel'Naga Caverns> 2-1

2-1 <Crevasse> 2-0

9-5 TOTAL 10-3

They will have a week to get their TvT in top shape. MMA is 7-3 in his last 10 games and Polt is 6-4 in his last 10 games.

Both players had a pretty tough road to the finals, MMA had the TvT games and Polt was the Protoss Sniper.

MMA Polt

Lyn (2-1) Round of 64 LosirA (2-1)

SuperNoVa (2-1) Round of 32 HuK (2-0)

GanZi (2-0) Round of 16 MaKa (2-1)

Ryung (3-1) Round of 8 Alicia (3-0)

MarineKing (3-2) Round of 4 Top (3-2)

Just looking at this match up, I can't help but think that Polt has an uphill battle in this match up. MMA is on this tear that no one has really seen in SC2 yet, he went 8-0 at MLG Columbus, was the ace in GSTL May, and just came off one of the biggest comebacks in the GSL. Polt has evolved from this one base all in cheese king and has become a force to be delt with. Right now, I'm going to say its going to be 4-2 in favor of MMA.

Nothing matters here except first, winner gets 100,000,000 WON ($93,000) and second place is worth 30,000,000 WON ($28,000).

Remember, Finals start at 15:00 KST (2:00 AM EST). Since it's the finals, come join us in the #GiantBomb chat room on irc.quakenet.org.

Also Rainbow will be performing!!!

Final Four! GSL Super Tournament!

What happens when you take the top 64 players in the GSL and put them in a single elimination tournament? You get FOUR Terrans in the round of 4. Going in to the matches on Saturday, the hopes of the Protoss were with SlayerS_Alicia and the Queen of Blades put all her Zenny on ZeNEXLine. Sadly both races were eliminated, Raynor and his squad stood tall.

SlayerS_MMA vs MarineKingPrime.WE
PoltPrime.WE vs oGsTOP

A loss here get you 10,000,000 KRW (9310 USD)
